Post subject: I feel a bit sad tonight

A bit like it's the end of an era. Eifion Williams, Pool's second-best ever signing, has been released. Always a grafter and a willing runner, messed about with wing work when he was a thoroughbred striker. Great with the ball at his feet and had genuine pace and skill. It's probably the right decision to let him go, but I feel genuinely sad. Eifion loves the town and the people and let's hope he gets his wish of remaining in the North-East. To Tinks - thanks for the memories, you were part of the Turner revolution and you always gave your best. Your brain was still sharp but your legs couldn't quite get you there. Darrell, when you were fit and on your game you were and are a top player. Bags of energy, bags of commitment and a real player. A bundle of fun and a real character, All three will be missed. Good luck to all of you and the other seven lads. Let's take a moment to thank them all. rolf

Top post. Totally agree. I am absolutely gutted.

I have to stop myself wondering what Effi will be thinking right now. I just get can't bare to think about it. I cry when I look at that photo at the top. Not forgeting the other lads though but Effi, to me, was a bigger shock.

We love you Effi. sadx

It is sad isn't. But it's a also sign of how far the club has come when we are releasing players of that quality. Remember the time when we were only too glad to see the back of players?

Those three, Williams, Clarke, Tinkler, are still good enough to play for good teams, as I'm sure they will be doing next season if they all decide to continue playing.

Well, it's certainly a ruthless move from Mr Wilson, he Eifion wouldn't have been on many people's shortlists.

Great servant to the club (as were the other two, but their release can't have been a surprise to many) and always the "forgotten man" in many people's eyes.

A good pro who did the simple things & worked hard for his team.

Plus the only Poolie with a trademark goal celebration in recent times?
