So it's farewell to Eifion, he's been a cracking servant for Pools in his time here and I think he deserves some appreciation. Favourite memories and other things about Eifion to be posted here!

I'll start off with a couple of my own....

1) Away at Bury, previous promotion season. We'd lost Watson not long before and I was wondering how well we'd do without him; but Eifion showed that day that he was well capable of leading the line. Guts, determination, decent pace and no little skill convinced me that we'd manage even without Gordon - and as time went on he proved that more and more. For me that's when he really came of age as a Pools player.

2) The goal at Cardiff. What could be more appropriate than a proud Welshman scoring at his National Stadium, I think I was almost as happy for Effy as I was for myself and Pools at that point!

Apart from the obvious his goal against Cheltenham in the play offs really got the vic bouncing in the sun. I believe it was the first time we had been in the lead in any play off match - we still lost overall though.......

Scoring a hat-trick against Pools that alerted Chris Turner's interest!
Great bloke and agreat servant to the club!
Those goals v Darlo and The Play-off Final goal are well and truly lodged for ever in the memory bank!

Eifion, you have been a great servant to this club - one of the greatest. I sincerely hope you play against us next season for whatever club you go to, just so you can hear the reception you will get at the vic....a legend.
Most memories are simply of him running all over the place, never stopping, the amount of effort he put in. I also remember Mike Newell subbing him to put Henderson on and the whole vic being aghast that Eifion was being taken off.
He will still make a great player for someone.

My best memory of Eifion, the goals apart, is against Bristol City at the Vic in the home play-off leg when his legs got taken in the box and the ref waved 'play on.'

Effy sat on his arse arms outspread and mouthing 'You're fu cking joking....' to 4 million Sky viewers.

Good luck feller, you'll always be a favourite in these parts.

GUTTED
MAN IS A LEGEND AND A 100%er the likes of which will not be seen at this club for a long long time.

A genuine nice bloke and family man and I hope he either gets a club in Wales so he can move back home or gets a gig at the loids or york so he can stay local.

The King is dead, long live the King.

Good luck Eifion.

A great player for Pools, and a great pro.

I'd imagine he will have a queue of clubs wanting to sign him, and I hope he plays against us at the Vic one day so he can get the reception his service deserves.

It is a sad day, as he's player we all have plenty of time for but the harsh fact is he scored 6 goals all season.

Even though I think he had a good season, we have been promoted to a higher level. There is no room for sentiment and it shows a ruthless side to Wilson that I like. I'm sure we won't be dissapointed with our squad come August.

On the evidence of this seasons signings we can already trust that Wilson is slightly more astute than Scott in the transfer market!!

Favourite memory of eiffion...

his goal against darlo was pretty close.

Remembering all the times he tried and was gutted after play off campaigns.

I am actually gutted.

He better get a good club.

Would like to see him playing for a solid club next season where he can enjoy more of the success he has achieved at the pools

Got to say I'm surprised by this as well. 50 goals since he was signed isn.t bad for someone who - alegedly - doesn't get many goals. Those he has scored as someone else has said were mainly quality.

Good luck to a lad who has always given his all for the club - had a great rapport with the fans - and will be missed.

My best memory of the man was his goal at at the Millstad...
Mrs Bandages best memory is when he posed for a photograph with her when he was in Holliways having his car repaired!!

Great servant to pools, great player on the pitch, and a top man off it...

Good luck fella

I feel exactly the same, in fact I don't think I've ever had a lump in my throat upon hearing of a Pools player getting released before. I know I've said it before, but Eifion Williams must be Pools best ever signing, pound for pound, games to goals, year to year?

Miss you, Taffy. sadx

Trust me i am not Eifion Williams biggest fan but he is a true professional and gives 100% effort when he pulls the blue and white on. You leave us with some great memories and you also leave with your Goal of the season trophy and a Club record ( most substituted Poolie ever! )

Good luck where ever you career takes you !

Took an absolute hammering from opposition defenders week in, week out, mostly to allow his fellow strike partner to be freed up to play his game.

Scored some fabulous goals, four nominated this season for goal of the season.

Goals against Darlo and at Cardiff gave us two of the best feelings as Pools fans.

A real gentleman and genuinely nice bloke.

I wish him the very best for the futre and am sorry to see him go.

Unbelievable that he had 4 goal nominations out of the 12 at the POTY do. He's been a victim of his own success, if we hadn't been promoted we'd have probably kept him but sadly football is a cruel game

He isnt now, and wouldnt be in League one. He would be an OK player in league one.

If the club is to move forward, then we need better than Eifion.

Sorry but its a fact.

And an exciting fact at that.

So lets stop this feeling sorry, and reminicing, and lets start looking forward to next season.

Bring it on.

I don't think anyone would argue that Williams would be good enough consistently in League 1 but surely if they want to give their thanks then that's their choice?
