Either that centre back was extremely slow or James has gained a yard of pace from somewhere, not seen him run past someone that easy before.

Nice to note Jeff Winter even commentating live how he had never seen Mafuta get so far forward so often and then to hear afterwards that it was a more advanced role and Gus was trying to prove he could do it. Nice response.

No doubt will get the best out of him as thats where he wants to play and likewise with James. Looks like Hawkes enjoyed himself too with plenty of long range efforts aswell, Featherstone on fire. Challinor certainly seems to be getting the midfielders and forwards to perform. Toure seems to be on the right hand side more than usual aswell, suppose he was part of a front 2 rather than a front 3? If he can bang them in like that with his left foot then he can wander about anywhere I guess.

Plenty to be positive about.

Clear as day the tactics have changed dramatically. Quick forward passing without being hurried, keep the ball moving and positivity all over the pitch.
Only one game but if we play like that the rest of the season that plan 25 looks pessimistic!

How long have Pools been doing tiki-taka?
Can't beat a good old cold Tuesday night in Chesterfield.

It was everything we've not been for years. Early passes in behind the back 4 and when their defence sat deep to protect themselves against it we took a shot from range. Very very good.

Also, look at the fourth goal. 4 Pools players closing down 2 defenders in their left back position. Superb!!!!

The standard has been set now, can it be upheld.? That's the problem.

That was a definite highlight it must be said, especially with it being so late on. Great to see.

11 goals, 10 in the League he's a serious danger of becoming that much sought after twenty goal a season striker!

Only 25 as well and never really settled at a club like he has here, he has serious scope to get better.

Massive credit to Mark for compiling these & marrying them up with his match commentary - & all for free, courtesy of Pools. Makes you wonder how much the providers of PoolsWorld in previous seasons must have creamed off, & those were of much shorter duration
