Played for us in the mid to late 90s when we were a really poor side. He was just about the only half decent player we had at the time but I remember him refusing to play at some point, can't remember the reason he gave to justify it...

He was a decent attacking midfielder (like has been said in a dire side), if i remember right he wanted a move and organised a swap deal (himself) maybe for Jon Cullen? Cullen was a previous player who we'd sold, but was out of form somewhere else - Beech was in good form for us so club said no to his deal and he wasn't happy.

All of this may be completely wrong.

He left under a cloud and pissed fans off.

Seem to remember David Speedie was his weasel of an agent.

He scored in the first Pools game I ever went to.

From memory.... signed from Blackpool, hence occasionally known as "Blackpool Beach", soon began to stand out as someone who could do more than just play a bit. Became the wellspring of the Pools midfield, and then suddenly vanished - he just wasn't in the side. Turned out that a not particularly good offer had been made by Sheff Utd, when Pools said no he got the sulks and effectively went on strike. Ended up at Huddersfield, who payed a relatively paltry fee set by tribunal - not unusual at the time - where I remember he had a great start and within 12 months was being talked about as a million pound player, only to then pick up a series of injuries and end up at Rochdale, where any game against Pools saw him greeted with shouts of "Judas"....
