Bale needs to sort out that little man bun thing out on the top of his hair he looks ridiculous. It’s like a man bun he’s tried to grow but it’s died and he can’t remove it for medical reasons.

I have nothing to really say about the game.

The Euro’s used to be a great tournament, 16 high quality teams every game mattered, it was tougher than the World Cup. It’s become absurd. It’s almost harder not to qualify for it, two teams go through after coming against the likes of North Moldova and Gibraltar, then teams can go into plays off through the Nations League no matter how they got on in the group. Then when you get there the top 3 in a group of 4 progress. Now even worse it doesn’t even have a host country it’s getting played all over with loads of teams having home matches. Shite.

I think the pan-European tournament is just a one off for next year to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the tournament. The 2024 tournament is set for Germany.

Fully agree though that, in general, the Euros is a pale imitation of what it once was. The first footy tournament I properly watched i.e. watched every game and got completely swept away by it was Euro 92. And that only had 8 finalists! A cracking tournament that was over and done with in a fortnight.

I think the increase to 16 teams made sense with the USSR and Yugoslavia breaking up (and several of the constituents being decent) but the recent expansion to 24 teams has no basis in footballing logic.

The only Euros I have to complain about are the 2016 and current version. If these form the bulk of your experience with regards to the Euros I'm not surprised they haven't caught your imagination.

Really enjoyed euro 2008, england werent there so felt could just enjoy the games without usual pressure.

Quality teams, quality games.

Feel like now, as stated above, its all about money and rinsing fans.

Yes I enjoyed the 2008 tournament. The 2000 version seems to be the one that's held up as the pinnacle although I recall both the 2004 and 2012 tournaments fondly.

Without a doubt the quality is poorer now. The fact that Scotland are still in with a chance of reaching the finals having been so utterly horrendous is ridiculous.

I think Wales have a good team at the moment and back in 2016 I always argued, particularly after their run to the semi final, that they would have gotten through the playoffs for a 16 team tournament so to argue that they only qualified on the back of the expansion was unfair.

However given that they failed in the next qualifiers they entered, the 2018 world cup where things were altogether more stringent, I'm not so sure now. I think they still have a pretty good team now but even this time round they've only finished 2nd in the group which wouldn't have guaranteed them automatic qualification under the old system.

I'm one of probably 4 Brits with a connection to Croatia and I can't bring myself to wear their shirt in public anymore lol

Euro2008 was a good tournament and what I like about the Euro's is a large majority of European nations (even smaller ones) have world class players, certainly eliminates slogs like Iran and Morocco at the last world cup. Have to say though England must be favorites at the next tournament, although I'm not a fan of the multiple city hosting gimmick.

I get that it's exciting travelling to exotic places but that sounds a bit over the top.
