But seriously, in the week of Bury's demise, well done Darlo for fighting back from the dead as a supporter-run club. As you say, Cyril Knowles was a great manager for both clubs.

Played a massive part in saving us from relegation back in 1990 and gaining promotion in 1991.
A disciplinarian manager who regularly had the pools players training on the beach.
A poolie legend who will never be forgotten.

Can't think of another manager who turned things round so radically without any investment to speak of. Couple of free transfers and we went from relegation certainties to promotion form in a few weeks. Going from turning up expecting us to lose heavily to being scared of nobody was incredible and almost completely down to Cyril getting the best out of a squad he inherited.
