Was hoping he would sign for Premier league club but £1m a week is ridiculous.

One can only assume that his wallet is more important to him than his career.

All the same, I still don't understand why Zinedine has taken such a strong stance against the guy - is it really because Bale wants to play golf, and more golf, when he isn't training? That he doesn't want to socialise?

Done a Rafa hasn't he?

If he's as introverted and unsociable as he seems to be he'll do fine in China. Gated compounds for the well off, never mind the super rich, are normal and everyone will leave him alone.

His main issue is that he never bothered/was unable to learn Spanish. Marcelo said in the paper last week that the other players communicate with him using hand signals!

Bale has won 14 trophies with Real Madrid, as a player Zidane won 5.

Can't help feeling Zidane has been disrespectful with his handling of the situation. Was there anything in Bale's contract saying he had to learn Spanish or mingle with his team mates? Aguero doesn't speak great English and little is made of that.

Personally I'd always try to embed myself in the culture of a country regardless of the size of salary but that's me. As far as I know Bale has done nothing wrong in terms of his contract so from that point of view he's been treated despicably. I'm sure his £400k a week pay rise will soften the blow of waking up in a smoggy shithole(China, not the Boro) instead of a sunny haven(Madrid, not Seaton Carew). There's plenty of golf courses in China anyway!

Wouldn't be surprised to see Zidane on his way.
