Well I'm happy about this, experienced head at the back who talks and organises. Felt sorry for him at harrogate on his debut, spent most the time shaking his head in disbelief at some players!

Good, exactly sort of player we need.

So we now have...

Kerr CB
Anderson CB / LB
Raynes CB
Cunningham CB
Kioso CB / RB
Kitching LB / CB
Richardson RB
Donaldson RB

Is Magnay needed?

Donaldson can play more forward with the defence cover mentioned

I know but cant see any need for us to sign Magnay even if Donaldson is further forward.

We have ample cover at CB and RB although suppose you can never have enough right backs like.

Agree about Magnay... not needed now. Sorry, seems a good bloke but need to strengthen in midfield.

Featherstone needs to come back preseason looking Ritchie lean. Is Nathan Luscombe his personal trainer?

Must say I hope Featherstone is next to sign. Mostly to see the postage stampers reactions.

Still don't get the decision to keep Richardson on, Hignett didn't appear to rate him much? Although guess he not on a huge wage.

Raynes could be a real asset next season - if he stays fit. Fingers crossed.

Best signing of the summer so far.

Nice bit of height at the back with Kerr, Raynes and Anderson and Raynes is the leader type we missed so ticks a few boxes. Obviously a lack of pace there but imagine if we play 3 at the back then Kioso will have to be in the centre to mop up.

As with most pre seasons - our season could be defined by if we finally bring in that midfielder who can cover some ground and get a tackle in. (Unless Bale is that player but I guess not with the fact Hignett never tried him)

don,t think raynes lack of pace will be exposed against the majority of sides lump the ball up to their big lad to outjump or outmuscle the opposition. need this busy midfielder type to mop things up and put us on the front foot. pointless a defender winning a header if its coming straight back .

I too can't see where Magnay fits in, I couldn't before Raynes was signed so was confused as to why he's been offered anything.

I'm not one for a full clean sweep, but Magnays race has surely run at this football club.

Last year we had a surplus of midfielders, this year defenders. Will have to play 5 at back with the defenders we have.

Hignett seems to have loyalty too much. Like you say he never played Richardson, Magnay can only get in with an injury crisis and the resigning of Muir, who amazinglu hardly had any minutes once Hignett took over. Hopefully Muir and Richardson get a chance but I suspect not.

The budget is not going to stretch too the 2 forwards and holding midfielder we really need.

However Raynes organised the defence so well last year he is a top signing.

I think we would have seen more Muir with more support and more pace around him. He was generally isolated under Bates, I reckon under Hignett and with the likes of James, Kabamba, Molyneaux buzzing about then we would have seen a different Muir.

Seeing as we just signed a young keeper on pro terms, also surprised we retained Catterick as back up.

Maybe theres simply more money for wages than we think?

I wonder if we will ever have a glut of goal scorers?

Doesn't matter if we're starting with two keepers and a third on the bench, five across the back and a midfield three.

Ah, the old 2-5-3-0. Those were the days. If that had gone it, it would have been a goal.
