The news of the first cut is always a highlight of the summer. Hoping things stay warm and damp for the next month or so.

I still can,t get my head round they dig up what looks like a perfect pitch when the money could be put towards the team or catering or new seats etc.

It probably looks perfectly good because it’s dug up yearly

I blame the various media departments.

Possibly, just possibly, the pitch still looks perfect every May because they do this work every season?

Perhaps it should be dug up every six month and it would be twice as good!

I used to work in an office opposite Pride Park, which had a small view through the big exit gates of a bit of the pitch. It's amazing how quick it goes from mud to lush green.

When you watch highlights of matches from years ago it seems crazy how well pitches hold up nowadays.

The away teams have liked the Vic pitch for about 8 years.
But that's gunna change from next season.
Fortress Vic on the way back.

Having a wonderful pitch hasn't really helped us over the last god knows how many years, but I do wonder how much this is consider maintenance in reality and is included in a contract with the pitch maintainer rather than a one off capital cost every summer.
