Have they not got the name wrong? Flirting with history

I hope they get a good manager and relight the dying embers of a once great local derby.

But that's just me.

I’m with you Charco. If in five years time both us and Darlington are back in the football league in the same division I’d be delighted.

It doesn’t really bother me I never really enjoyed derby games anyway but for us to play again in the same division it’s going to take our downward spiral to continue as Darlo as they are now are at a ceiling.

I was reading that they have promised BAME and women suitable candidates an interview, how incredibly pointless and right on. Surely any suitable candidate should be considered anyway? I’m not going again until Eni Aluko is Darlo manager. It’s a bit transphobic though why aren’t they welcoming applications from those people?

They were hardly going to discount candidates for belonging to those groups were they, just a nice little exercise in profile raising. Anyway, they’ll probably appoint gnarled ex pro ‘Dog strangler’ Dave Bloke, sacked three weeks ago when his former club realised he was useless and who they’ll be sacking in 12 months time.
I saw one of the female presenters on TV this morning who came out with the stunning comment that if proof were needed that a woman could manage a team, you only have to look as far as ‘Game of Thrones’ to see what a woman can achieve. sctatchinghead It’s a TV programme, it’s not real, dragons won’t be flying over the pitch and you can’t actually kill and torture the opposition literally.
I agree with you about Darlo and the derby nonsense. For some people their entire season was built on two matches for the bragging rights. You don’t get any more points and this to me lead to a general lowering of ambition on the fans part. It was pure pantomime, nice to beat any team, but I swear that if we won the title yet lost both matches to Darlo, a sizeable percentage of our ‘gumbie community’ would want the managers head on a stick.

Enjoyed all the games v Darlo.
The rivalry
The atmosphere
The added passion from players n fans.

Feel a bit sorry for our younger generation of fans who have never experienced these games.

Hopefully Pools n Darlo can meet again in a league Derby.

Well that's my opinion cos playing Gateshead n Harrogate in non league is boring as fcuk.

Derby games were only good if your own team won. I hated the tension. I also hated the aftermath if we had won, no doubt the same for you lot, trying to get back to the car or station without some dick trying to start a fight or being covered in spit.
As for the advert, its box ticking as no doubt someone out there would be offended that a certain group appeared to be excluded, opening up the chance of some easy money.

Mickey Brown free kick and Joe Allon goals at Feethams I am privileged to remember. And the win at the white elephant where some of my best away days apart from Hull and trips to Scarbrough.

I’m not dismissing the notion that it’s an issue just the box ticking and tokenism of putting those lines in a job advert. We should be at a point in 2019 were the best candidate gets the job without bollocks like that. Carol Malia on Look North uttered words to the effect of “you shouldn’t have to say that” when it was mentioned on the news last night, you shouldn’t. It stands to reason that any job be attainable to anyone qualified and skilled to do it well. It’s clumsy awkward white people trying to be right on.

Similarly it’s why I’m not sure about this Rooney rule in America or the Quota system in South Africa are right and not just a gesture by white people who are embarrassed about the treatment of BAME people in the past. Simply just treat people equally and fairly, manufactured rules aren’t going to make the issue go away ultimately the problem is down to society and education long before it gets to sport.
