It’s been a regular thing I have read this season and last that we regularly look less fit than part time teams well I have just read that only two part time teams are in the National League this season, Braintree and Maidenhead and our points haul from them is 10 out of 12, it would have been 12 if it wasn’t for a last minute equaliser (fitter part timers obviously!)

Yes we have been awful since relegation on the pitch and for the first season off it as well but getting back to the atmosphere (again, sorry!) in the Vic maybe part of the problem is we as fans have underestimated how tough the League is (maybe not good but tough) and looked at names and lazily assumed we should be pummeling them. An example being Solihull Moors who as things stand are going top tonight, I remember complaints of us only beating them 1-0 earlier in the season!

Don’t fret, it’s one of those things that terrace snipers drag up when their mind goes blank.
Most teams seem to just charge forward then get back in numbers when they lose the ball. A sort of charge of the light brigade approach to football. Anyway, it’s a new regime, so let’s see what develops.

Is this the same Solihull that Money managed briefly or am I mistaken? Wonder if he is claiming he set the seed in those 28 days

Shock horror but I think PJ is correct to some extent, when we first went down me and my group used to take the piss out of visiting teams giving them stupid names ie Boredom Wood, Solihull Motors, Brainless Town etc seriously believing that the mighty Pools would simply brush these sides aside simply due to the size of their fanbase and visiting support - who could seemingly have arrived in a Sinclair C5. How wrong could we have been? Perhaps these simplistic views of life in the Conference were to some extent shared by the players but hopefully after >1.5 seasons in this league the penny has finally dropped and everyone at the club now fully appreciates that size doesn’t actually matter in the NL.

Yes, he ‘went for some Fish and Chips’ even earlier there.

I think Solihull are pretty much bankrolled by a wealthy owner it’s no massive surprise they are up there but Tim Flowers has done an excellent job at the same time.

Aren't Kabambas current club Havant & Waterlooville part time? Im sure I read that his main reason for coming here was to give full time football another go.

My guess would be yes they are but just going on something I read but 2 or 3 is splitting hairs really. It’s all but a full time professional division these days.

yes they have a rich owner who must plough all his money on the playing staff as their ground and car park are hardly up to northern league standard never mind football league.

if pools were being bankrolled to the extent of a number of these clubs then we would just brush em aside. years ago obviously we could not compete with newcastle or sunderland financially but could with york and darlo. now things have changed and until something is done to make things a level financial playing field we cannot compete with salford, solihull, harrogate ,fylde and i imagine quite a few more.

To get out of this league you need respect and embrace it, for all its faults we're here for a reason. The difference between confidence and arrogance is that one of them you're willing to put the effort in to prove you're the best and last year there was too much arrogance on and off the pitch that we'd just win because of who we are. This season hadn't been as bad but I can still remember hearing people complain about getting beat off 'part-time Fylde' to name one, not interested in the fact they're full-time, right up there with one of the biggest budgets and play at a new £20m stadium.

In one of the earlier podcasts it was said that the league had been ranking budgets and it came out that we were just bellow half way and that Ebbsfleet were spending £1m more on wages than us, its easy to see why they're having financial difficulties. People don't realise the amount of cash sugar daddies are spending on chasing league football at this level.

As for Solihull who have a coaching set up and board that are so big they'd put plenty of clubs higher up the pyramid to shame; there car park is (or at least was) used by Ford workers all week raking in some good money. Not to mention the cash from Birmingham City who have a couple of teams play there as well as a wealthy owner. It's not the £1m or so a season Boreham Wood get off Arsenal but it's still not to be sniffed at.

If most of what I have read earlier is correct HUFC will be a non league club until a Bunkerite wins the Euromillions jackpot!

I beg to differ, Mutters.
Obviously it would depend on how much I won.
The current Euromillions jackpot stands at over £120 million.
If I won that I would certainly look at parting with some of my winnings to support Pools.
There would be conditions attached to my contribution.

If I won 120 million I would buy Pools and then allocate a yearly spend to keep us OK. IOR were only putting in around 500,000 a year and that wouldn't even eat into my capital. I'd also buy a 1956 Type A Porsche Speedster for travelling to matches in and quite a lot of records. And a proper valve amplifier powered reggae sound system.

None of this is very likely because I don't buy a ticker but if I found one...

Well if I won I definitely wouldn't give my head a shark - those things are dangerous!

Jackpots in the tens of millions beggar belief anyway. What in God's name are you going to spend that kind of money on if not a football team? A nice house and a couple of round the world trips wouldn't make a dent in it.

Working class Joe's getting lucky was more fun when it was a hundred grand on the Football Pools and you could blow it all in a few years. The rest of us could relate to that!

You sound a bit jealous of my massive winnings Mr Dawes. And I'll give my head a shark if I want, I'll just pay somebody to remove its teeth first.

I’d buy Accrington and reject all future friendly requests.
