My lad turned 16 last week and was signed by a mens team (decent-ish standard - Step 7, North Eastern Counties sort of standard - but he's better than that so this is just a starting point for the rest of this season - no, I aren't one of those 'my lad is the dogs bollocks' kind of dads, he's good and played at county level and he's literally only just 16 so time is on his side but it's questionable whether he'll be good enough to get to league level or even Conference level but he has something....).

Anyway, it sort of fucks us right up for following Pools home and away as they play Saturdays so will be likely leaving the Season Ticket Elite next season....we've watched years of pretty crap football and now can't go at a time when I feel that a corner could well have been turned :(

First game is today so going to try and get pools player on my phone.

Of course I am chuffed for my lad and love watching him play but I am really going to miss watching Pools and am gutted we aren't going today - it's not just the game, it's the whole routine we have. The hours and hours of football chat in the car, eating dinner in the car before assuming our positions in the ground an hour before kick off, cup of tea, read the programme etc etc etc.

Just had to get this off my chest chaps, apologies for spamming the board ;)

He may suffer a career threatening injury which will mean you can still come

Only joking, wish him the best of luck and hope to see him at Pools, what is his name to look out for?

Thanks, he’s already said if he got onto pools books he’d never leave unless he was kicked out....how good must that be? Being paid to play for the club you support? Is there anyone on here who has played for pools or had family play for pools?

How bad is it that injury crossed my mind?! Bad dad. (As in, if it happened we could always go to pools  :-o )

I will be shouting his name all over this board if he ever got signed by pools don’t worry lol

That's great news for you, Shilts, and here's wishing every success to your lad. If he does well, make him pay for the refreshments!

Because of my twang, I am continuously asked, "Why Hartlepool?." Buying my train ticket prior to the Orient game recently, I was asked, "Were you born there?". No. "Did you live there?". No. "Did you play for them?". Errrrrr, I don't think that counts somehow ..……...

my old man played in the late 20,s. for us. good luck to your lad especially if he gets a chance to play for pools. i had trials at watford and halifax but could not get one at pools as we were really brilliant in 1963.
