Never seen Pools at Berwick, but remember once in 1983 boarding a 18 seater mini bus from Blackhall to go and see Berwick v Celtic in May 1983 for a benefit game for a Berwick player who had his career ended early through injury. We got into Berwick at 1130am in the days when pubs opened at 12 noon prompt. To cut a long story short I got banged up and never got to the game, but the lads hung on for me in true yakker style and I was back in Blackhall for the disco at the Miners Welfare at 7pm. Celtic won 3-1 in front of a crowd of around 3500, comprising approx. 500 Berwick, 2000 Celtic, 750 Sunderland and bizarrely 250 Newcastle, many of whom had clearly come to confront Sunderland. With this in mind the SPG were out in force and that's how I ended up banged up, a miscarriage of justice of course.

Correction ! It was Sunderland v Celtic benefit match at Berwick for one of their players who had suffered a career ending injury.

Think I’ve seen us play at Berwick in a pre season friendly.

We wore the yellow 1908 gold kit so was probably about 2002 ish.

We always pop into Berwick when we go to haggy castle.

The mrs challenged my son to a race there back in 2015. She fell over and broke her glasses.

Good times

The SPG can spot a labour supporter at 100 paces hence their name "Socialist Patrol Group" bbolt
