Interesting article. No doubt he’ll get slaughtered by some on here but I think he makes some valid points!!!

I reckon he does make some very valid points BUT I’m not sure you can blame the fans exactly for the reason the club is like it is. Don’t get me wrong if you turn up and abuse players in a Pools shirt you are a paying customer and not a supporter, that is the opposite of support and completely counter productive. But at the same time you can’t blame moans and groans when people are watching utter shite.

At the end of day Cassidy’s career has been on the slide for a long time and that is not the fault of our fans, he’s obviously not the type of character we need. Anyone else with the same mindset needs to be next out of the door for me.

We need men ! He's obviously a soft bugger ? Imagine somebody like Gordon Watson reacting like that or Tinkler or Ritchie Humphreys?

If Cassidy had performed, shown some steel and put a shift in the crowds would love him! I'd suggest he speak to one of our legends like the above or Joel Porter ? Or Biydie even .

When we recruit no soft fanny types or snowflakes !! Money now Cassidy calling us a negative club , is it a way of turning their failure off them & blaming the fans for their lack of bollocks or manlyness ??

Went to Spennymoor Tuesday saw Telford game liked the attitude of Shaun Sutton their defender , good signing a man's man, leader and talker ! Their captain and he scored aswell , watched him especially all night I would put him on my shortlist of new signings!

Have you mentioned this Shaun Sutton to the club?. Did you see any of our scouts or our manager there?

Ged McNamee was sitting row behind me, Carl Magnay was there , he is quite often I guess the old Gateshead connection as James Curtess , Jamie Chandler & Rob Ramsgate are at Spennymoor.

Sutton's big defender with the gate and bushy beard, he never stopped talking, encouraging etc geeing up all game.Telford were no great shakes but well organised, had a good keeper, pretty fit and Spenny just ran out of steam.

I mentioned a kid called Ryan Giles last season who is at Wolves, on loan at Telford last year 19 years old, fantastic winger, I reckon better than Nathan Thomas great loanee.

I think Tommy miller's our scout again? Spenny v Boston Tuesday before he was there sitting with Ged. Loads of decent players about in conference north many I suspect would like move up to full time bar Spennymoor 23 goal man Glen Taylor's who just signed new Spenny contract happy to be a full time teacher and part time footballer !

Of course Tommy miller junior is assistant manager at Spenny so plenty of Pools connections loads of players out there, was at Consett on a Tuesday a few weeks ago saw Darren Holden playing left back, good enough for us now I reckon, I'd have him over kitching . Got talking to a bloke about Pools and Darren Holden for half hour or so at the end of the game he said I'm Darrens dad! I always rated him, thought he had good potential and a wicked king throw , was mom for me last year when he was at Guiseley against us.

Point is plenty capable players who would not be big decking cry babies like Cassidy! Put a shift in son, the fans might warm to you !!

I saw Tommy Miller Snr in the car park at the ground the other week, so I guess he is involved again. I wonder if we had anyone at York v Hereford the same evening? We have a couple of our players on loan their and a couple playing for Hereford who I know the club were alerted too a couple of months ago. Whilst its no big deal we have scouts out at games, I would be disappointed if we didn't and not a all surprised. Its reassuring to know that we did have a presence at Spennymoor. Hignett did say we have scouts out at all the games , and I assume its at the likes of games like these not Man City v PSG. A good club should have a small army of scouts, contacts , and even fans like ourselves looking for players.

I didn't mind Holden when he was a Pools, another kid I'd forgotten about not given much of a chance. Not sure he is good enough for a club in NL going for promotion but I get what you are saying , Dan Jones is the one that got away in my eyes , playing really well by all accounts in a Barrow defence that give little away. He should be on our list of summer transfer targets.

there are a number of lads like him who do not want or actually cannot afford to do a full time gamble. if you only want full timers you can cross em off your list which is why i,d love pools to go half full time and half part time next season. as for scouting i really think the above is in place at pools. its fine seeing a player but signing them can be another matter. one i have seen a few times this season is scott duxbury a left back at stockport. only early 20,s but can get forward and defend. out of contract at the end of the season.

Good point Accrington, I do think though that if you sell any club well enough any self respecting footballer would ditch teaching for a full time contract , you can always go back to teaching or plumbing or whatever they did before. For me its about selling the club, I mean if you were in Taylors position would you sign for Pools full time? I know I wouldn't , but would you sign for Accrington? , I would, Harrogate ? possibly. It took years for IOR to build the club up from a joke to one decent players would sign for, their work has all but been dismantled now, and it will become difficult to attract players again, especially with the competition in non league football in the NE and ex players and managers telling people the clubs a basket case.

do not mind a good player or good manager slagging off pools but cannot take anything from bang average ones at best and snowflakes. hope he gets some stick big time if he ever comes to the vic again but then i suppose he,d complain to the local plod as he was being singled out by the crowd because of being a minority, a pools legend .

I would of thought it would of been the club he would of slagged off not the fans, but then wait a minute, he is still employed by us isn't he? maybe this will reach its conclusion at the end of the season, something to look forward to :angry-screaming:

I remember him at the start of the season he came and was very disappointed in his first performance. He’s big, but so is an oil rig, however the oil rig probably had a bit more manoeuvrability.
He struck me as someone who wasn’t remotely interested and would rather be somewhere else.
On the bright side, it’s a wage released.

Can anyone confirm this?

Is Cassidy engaged to Simon Waltons sister? Somebody told me this hence him wanting to get back to Maidstone as Walton was minding the shop before John Still made another retirement comeback? I know Walton was in co charge when they played us here.
& is player coach now?

Or is this a load of clap trap?
I did nt make it up someone told me?

Anyway if thats Cassidys attitude bugger off, as long as they ate loaning him and paying all his wages I couldnt care,

If I was in charge I would release/ terminate Luke "sick note" Williams contract'
I suspect he will never play for us or kick a ball this season, I would guess? he will maybes retire from football medically unfit?
Shame cos like many excited when we got him (thought it bit odd to come from L1 Scunthorpe to us?) knew he had injury issues missing most of last season but thought its a coup to get him.

A kind of irony Luke "I'm sitting in the stands more than some season ticket holders" George out , replaced by Luke Williams. Mind George did appear now & then , not up to much though, Conference North player or Welsh Premier at best??

I think a lot of them come in through that Paul Watson and got very good wages on 2 year deals. I think the ones we put on the transfer list in the summer due to being outside our new wages structure were Munns, Laing, Cassidy, Newton and Donaldson. Donaldson has done better this season but im sure the funds could have been better spent when you look at the other 4.

On paper looked decent signings at the time. Munns, Donaldson and Newton had all got out of this division with Cheltenham and Cambridge.

at the time of their signings did anyone expect these players to be just very ordinary at best. thought laing sounded a good signing then i saw him.

I thought that too, then I saw them play.
Then I thought....oh dear.
