The Hignett effect ! This is his first game in charge IMO , I reckon we would have beaten Braintree even if Money had still been in charge. Orient top of league, leagues highest scorers, but since around Boxing Day have been in mid table form , so we have every chance. A win might be stretching it a bit , but we shouldn't be looking at anything less than a draw, a 1-3 thumping etc wouldn't be acceptable at all, top of the table or not.

Come on Pools, the season started v Braintree, lets restore some pride, lets have promotion form from now until the end of the season , at the very least lets remain unbeaten at home.

2-2
Molyneaux 47

388 Cockney kernts

it is a tough one for me for a couple of reasons. want pools to win but again i do not want leyton orient to loose either as i really hate the man. united tribute act called salford and prefer the former to succeed. sit on the fence with a i all draw with 3100 gate with 400 from darn sarf.

Will try to get home in time for the live stream but something will go wrong and I'll miss it. Which means Pools will play the best they have all season and win. 2-1 after a very nervous last five minutes plus 7 minutes of injury time, which is outrageous.

James and Kabamba both score with stunning long range efforts. Crown: 3,078 including 231 Orienteers.

So cos we won you wont class him as being manager, yet had we lost im 100% certain you wouldnt say that.

Your negativity towards him is unparalleled.

Close game however think Orient may just nick it. Be happy with a draw and iv no doubt Hignett will have us playing some good stuff but Orient may be just too strong for us.

If we do lose I wont be booing, slagging players off and shouting abuse.

Or posting at half time that were going down.

hth.

I'm hoping for a rousing performance and goals from Luke, Hawkes and Karamba sending the 2,988 Poolies home happy.

I fear that we'll actually get bullied into a two or three nil defeat, some of the 236 travelling fans will wreck the Rat Race, and Hignett will deck someone for mouthing off.

Thought we played well today and it was a very entertaining game as orient actually came to win the game not just sit back with 10 men behind the ball like a lot of teams do. Normally we concede goals when crosses and long throws come into the box a lot but I thought Raynes was outstanding and got on the end of most things to clear the danger. We played the ball forward more instead of back all the time, we had players like Donaldson, hawkes, molyneaux and James willing to get on the ball and run at the opposition and it was nice to see. It's a long time since we have seen players putting their bodies on the line with blocks and headers.
A few good performances as well today ,Raynes, kioso and Anderson were solid and it really helps having a big talker and organiser in Raynes. Donaldson was up and down the pitch all game and put a great shift in, only concern is the quality he got in the box, could improve on that. Amos was a bit quieter but still solid. Featherstone had a better game, hawkes was very good and I enjoyed him running at players, needs to stay in the team, molyneaux was decent but looks like he'd be better out wide. Was nice to see noble back, yes he missed a pen but he looked back to being the player we expect.
The front two seem to be working well and don't give the opposition defence much time to settle, full of graft and running. James is an odd one, virtually never scores but he stretches teams and he must have won us 10 pens this season. Kabamba looks like he's enjoying his football and I really like him, can't knock his goal return so far.

A bit disappointed we didn't win but a good performance and enjoyable game. Oh and it was nice to actually see some away fans!!

Watched the game online in Spain through Orient's streaming service, was really impressed, the quality was mainly very good. Only cost £6.99 I wish Pools would consider doing this, there must be many exiled Poolies who would contribute. As for the game I thought we were very unlucky not to win, easily the better team over 90 minutes, well done lads proud of them today.

THAT is what I want to watch :)

They're top of this division and we should've won.

Really good game to watch and big difference on the terraces too, much better from us lot. Everyone worked hard and definitely more attacking thrust, more direct but with quality. It really is pretty amazing the difference today versus the team I watched a few weeks ago. The intensity was much improved, everyone working together and closing down, forcing mistakes. I think it helps when the players have the shackles off and are given free rein to express themselves and go forward.

Now all we really need to do is chill out and really get behind the manager and players like we did today. We'll get beat and might even get beat a few games on the bounce but Hignett did a good job last time in my opinion and it went tits up because of things largely beyond his control. Lets give him a really could crack at it and accept the ups and downs because I would sooner watch games like that every week than much I have seen over the last few years.

I think Noble is quality but I really have to admit we were probably better with him on the bench! I never thought I'd say that but his passing was off and of course he missed the penalty - not that the penalty miss is something I would normally single a player out for, it happens, but he's missed more than his fair share in my opinion and we surely have at least one player at the club who has the composure and ability to score 90% of penalties taken?

How many penalties have we had this season? What's Noble's penalty scoring percentage? Anyone?

Anyway, really happy after that :)

He’s scored 8 missed 3 according to Mail bloke so that might be wrong

But the baton has already been passed to Josh Hawkes according to Hignetts interview.

On a side note this has to be out most prolific season for penalties? Liam Noble has taken 11 alone!!

Good posts Richy and Shilts.
Bloke in Mill House made a mild derogatory about Amos mistake and was told to shut up by two others.
United we stand divided we fall.

But my bitch is Hawkes is a better striker of the ball than Noble and should take most dead ball kicks.

Agree with the comments about a lot less negativity. Even in pub before hand I heard people commenting it needs to be kicked out and a few got shot down during the game too. Even when we went 1 down, there wasn't as much as usual.

Hopefully it carries on, love Hignetts line ups and how he gets us playing. Top interview afterwards too and a big well done to Raj for for getting the right man for the job.

Looking forward to games again.

Agree - I enjoyed the game and thought that every Pools player put in a solid shift. Was good to see Cunningham back on the bench. Loach flapped at a couple of crosses and came out with a dodgy punch late on - but we never looked like conceding a boatload - which had been my fear. Donaldson seemed to work hard - and his tackling is much improved - but too many Jon Franks type crosses. Another fine performance from Hawkes. Featherstone was solid and James again impressed me. Credit to whoever sorted the three loan signings.

Amos looks a decent little player, be nice to keep him, solid game from Anderson too.

Nice to see a cynical foul in there too from Donaldson when they were breaking, too often we just let them run past.

Enjoyed that, good game, decent display against a very good Orient side , something to build on, now for 4 points at least from next 2 away games.

I enjoyed that. I thought that once they got that deflected goal, "here we go again" but, to their credit they all got stuck in and it's a pity the pen wasn't converted but these things happen. I'm sure Noble has taken that pen over and over in his mind.
We keep playing like that and we'll be ok. Something to build on. The crowd got right behind the team as well, which bodes well for what's to come.
Only downside was the referee. I really don't know where they get them from.
Onwards and upwards.

In complete agreement re the referee.
Some of his decisions were mind boggling.
Didn't mind him letting play go on when there were playes down injured though. I know it makes a difference when it's your player & not the oppositions but I think he got it about right.

I have been impressed with the teams that Higgy has put out and I was so happy at the thought of a 2-1 win that I put a tenner on at the last minute in Betfair at 14.5. Noble's miss cost me £135 less commission but I still want him in the starting line-up every week.

As for referees, the further a team drops down the football pyramid the worse they get. We just have to hope that we get our fair share of decisions. I suspect that we have been awarded more pens than most.

! got what I asked for but could have been even better if someone else had taken the penalty. I think the person who wins the penalty should be the one to take it. But Great team performance.

Well done Higgy!

Let me know when we appeal for the yellow card to be moved due to mistaken identity then.

In complete agreement re the referee.
Some of his decisions were mind boggling.
Didn't mind him letting play go on when there were playes down injured though. I know it makes a difference when it's your player & not the oppositions but I think he got it about right.

Was that when he did eventually stop play then came back and gave him a yellow card? What was that for?

Must admit I assumed he'd let his gob go because the ref hadn't stopped play to let him get treatment

I've looked at everybody's claims, re-watched the video and considered all the available evidence. There is now no doubt in my mind that it was Colonel Mustard.
