I have about 50 from the 1960,s 70,s and 80,s including the final home league game v Swansea 1968 when Pools gained their first ever promotion all in great condition, does anybody know if they have any value?

I was considering donating them to the corner flag to raise funds ( Possibly frame and exhibit the Swansea one) unless they are worth millions in which case I might keep some of the dosh for beer and use the rest to buy Messi

I have hundreds, and I want to get rid of them to be honest, some in Swindon, some at my dads, some in my house. I loved the old programmes, but the ones of the last 15 years have just become bland, Its only out of habit and nostalgia that I buy them. Obviously odd ones or a complete collection may fetch a small price, but generally the market has fell out of programmes in recent years, like books , you can't give them away, and most importantly of all, young people aren't buying them anymore, so there is little interest or demand.

Nevertheless there is usually always a young kid out there, who is a bit different and may want to start a collection. I remember when I was a kid, a bloke my dad worked with gave me hundreds of programmes , mostly Sunderland but a few from other clubs and a few cup finals/semi finals from the early 50s, that I later found out were worth 20 quid each , unfortunately by time I found that out, I had given them away in a job lot of around 100 that I sold a mate for 25 quid the lot, so I could get to an away game in the early 80s.

No problem Hartleblue, didn't mean to put a downer on things, but you only have to go on Ebay and see how they have depreciated in price. Probably a one from the 70s that cost 5p will sell for the same price as one from 2010 that cost £3.00. I can't give mine away, yet don't want to throw them away, just looking at them brings back the memories. As a kid the first port of call for many of that era was the hut behind the Rink End or Town End to get the previous weeks away programme.

Dont know about buying Messi, but I reckon things are going to get Messy
.

Is there anyone at the club or the Corner Flag or Museum of Hartlepool etc etc who might take such stuff who could be a focal point to create a museum of the club.
I think a lot of us have stuff stashed away that never sees light of day and i would be happy to donate what i have.

Good idea. Even if they just stored them away for safe keeping, so that there was a programme kept as a historical record of every game the club had played going back as far as possible , for the benefit of future generations , like a sort of historical records library. I'm talking about the museum here like , not the club. I wouldn't trust them to run a piss up in a brewery at the moment.

Put around 200 both home and away on EBay about three times, absolutely no interest at all.

As long as you have the room to store them, keep them.

I reckon that in a generation or two they will become very valuable. Particularly small print run ones for clubs like Pools.

unless they are wembley finals, pre war ones and teams like new brighton that do not exist anymore they are not worth the money they are printed on. you never know about the future though and like old cars they are worth much more now than when they were new. if i throw mine away i know they,ll go up in value just like vauxhall pa cresta,s did after i sold mine.

add to that all art deco furniture, some glassware and pottery that were all put on the skip 10 years ago. if you have anything from the 60,s especially expensive stuff in its day DO NOT GET RID you have been warned. watch out for peugeot 306 gti 6,s. they are fetching good 4 figure sums and still being used as everyday cars by some people.

That's the problem half the time, people don't have the room. Odd ones like the single A4 sheet programme printed in early 80s may be worth a few quid etc. I had one daft ones such as , single sheet v Sheff Wed friendly in 1977, only 400 crowd and one , given out free ,with just teamsheet printed on bit of paper size of beer mat for friendly v Queen of South 1973 I think. I've never met anyone who remembers these games never mind had the programme.
