I thought by now we would have strengthened. Also I would be tempted to give Cunningham a go. He certainly should be fit enough. He did well in Telford's league for Blyth so why not.

We haven’t got the players to play a normal 442, don’t have the defensive midfielder and our defenders aren’t good enough to only play with 2 in the middle. We had our best run of the season so far with 3 at the back so might be best option until we can bring in reinforcements.

Bloody hell, took me 20 mins to name a team, and I'm still not happy with it, that's how bad things have got.

Loach

Kioso Magnay Anderson

Featherstone

Donaldson Hawkes McLaughlin Amos

James Cassidy

3-5-2

sctatchinghead Richard never told me  He was a disappointment like, typical, I thought he would be okay and he was when I saw him for Accrington a couple of years ago. Bloody hell we are seriously under strength

PS. Just went to change it, and realised I had forgot about Kioso, would probably have started with him anyway , so no real harm done

I reckon we might see a loan signing tomorrow, if you are goin to sign someone on initially a months loan it makes sense to wait to the closest point to the game to finalise because you don't want to waste days of the loan before he's even made his debut. On a lot of occasions the player has probably been training with the team that week before it’s official as well. I would expect a centre half at least.

I reckon so as well. Money can't be going into a game like this ,with a squad so weak. I think he will be pulling out all the stops, but I don't think he would bring someone in just for the sake of it, it would have to be the right man. A Mirfin type player at this stage would be ideal. In fact what is Mirfin doing? don't think he is getting a game for Mansfield.

I hope you're right, PJ.
I agree we have to maximise the effect as best we can.
We could do with a spy at the training ground.

In other interviews Money has said he might bring him back at the end of the month depending on how other transfer business goes. What a waste of time that would be - Rodgers is no better than the defenders Pools already have on the books.

We need 2 hardened pros not 19 year olds with limited experience.

The squad now is thin and the team more or less picks itself.

Sorry they were "negative waves"

May
Johnson, Corbyn, Farage, Barnier.
Macdonald, Gove, Cable, Juncker.
David, Tusk.

May has to keep her place as nowt gets past her, I think Corbyn should be out on the left wing where he’s at home, just my opinion, Cable returns from injury.
I’ll go for a 0-0 stalemate.

From the Evening Chronicle

Newcastle United will decide which club has won the race to sign Elias Sorensen next week.
Oxford United are the latest club to enquire about the Danish youngster but have Blackpool, Hartlepool and Gateshead for company in their bid to take him on loan until the end of the season.

Owen Bailey is another youngster who United are prepared to send out on loan while Matty Longstaff is also interesting some clubs.
Hartlepool boss Richard Money made the journey to Whitley Park this week to check out United's kids in the 4-2 win against West Bromwich Albion.
Dawson said: "There's some who we would like to go out and get some experience.
"BUT IT HAS TO BE THE RIGHT PLACE FOR THEM "
"We won't just send people out for the sake of it.

That rules us out then , well apart from maybe the runt of the litter, whoever that maybe, but I doubt we will be seeing Sorenson.

Sorensen would surely be guaranteed starts with us, maybe not many goal scoring opportunities though.

Given that our previous signing was a kid from Doncaster, I can't see us being of much interest to Newcastle's best prospect. Hopefully I'm wrong as he seems highly rated and has a good goal scoring record for the kids teams.

Suppose we'll see today how strong Money's links are with the local clubs.

If you were manager of any of the big three, would you want any of your young prospects playing in the NL? I wouldn't , apart maybe from those who needed toughening up, the sort of player we do not need, we need players already toughened up. Sorenson sounds like the real deal, and I'm sure we will hear of him getting goals in league 1 very shortly.

do not need or want kids or anyone else for that matter that needs toughening up unless you fancy at least one season in the conference north playing blyth, spennymoor, York and bloody stockport county.

Revised team.

Loach
Magnay Raynes Kioso
Donaldson Mclaughlin Molyneux Hawkes Amos
Cassidy Kabamba

Bloody hell, that looks a good well balance side with a bit of flair

Money won’t pick it though he’s said he wants to play four at the back.

This thread is about what team the poster would play not the manager, but as you so kindly mention it, I think he will change to a back three now once he sees what team I would play.

You have banged on about 4-4-2 like a cracked record for years, we finally sign a winger and big centre forward and you want wing backs

Proving I was right all along then. I still think 442 is the way at this level, but tomorrow I would go 352, remember my original 352 was based on a threadbare team, that couldnt of went 442 if I had wanted it too.

You will have to excuse PJ. There isn't a lot to do in Doha, and he gets his kicks from picking fault with others posts , in particular mine. Its just the way he is, there is treatment for it, unfortunately they dont have the NHS in Qatar

Why do always get personal when someone disagrees with your posts? what do you know about Doha? Are you insinuating I have mental health problems? Classy.

I was joking in this instance but it was also a fair point, you have always been an advocate of 4-4-2 and we have finally signed some players to fit it.

Please stop taking yourself so seriously and lay off the personal digs at someone you don’t know or have a clue about. It’s a football message board at the end of the day.

To be honest chaps for the past few seasons i could not tell what formation we were playing 442,3142,352 or whatever, it all looked to me like the swarm formation.
Perhaps this "formation" word is still implanted in our brains from the glory days and is now nothing but an aspirational, academic debate.
Good fun though!

You are right there Bluestreak, that is exactly why I prefer 442, cos players at this level find it difficult to master the more complicated formations.442 is simple, direct and requires players with strength, height ,pace and power, ideal for NL, lge 2 and to a lesser degree lge 1

My favourite!

I remember him scoring with a header in front of the town end when I was about 7 or 8 year old. He jumped backwards and got so much power onto the ball using just neck muscles that it rocketed in. No idea who we were playing, maybe Workington, Barrow or Stockport. He was my hero from that moment on.

Farkin hell , he didn't live long did he?. Different breed that generation. When you think all their mates probably worked in heavy industry and visited the A&E at the likes of St Hilda's hospital on an almost monthly basis, that's if they weren't killed at work, you can begin to understand why players in those days played with a passion and a smile on their faces, in comparison they must of thought they had died and went to heaven, playing footy for a living.
