Great player to watch and part of an excellent Pools team. Very sad news.

Terrible news. Hope he is being well cared for.

He was a cracking player, one of those we couldn't hold onto when the wheels came off Gary Gibson's gold-plated Rolls Royce.

All my best wishes to Lenny in his fight against a terrible disease. One of those players who you knew, deep down, were too good for Pools at that time - but it was great while it lasted.

Got to know Lenny well from his time at Pools one of the players I did a mortgage for when he bought a house at Billingham with his then girlfriend.
Really sad news as he was a softly spoken nice guy off the pitch but loved a tackle on it.
Best memory was him celebrating the award of that last minute penalty against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.

Agree with all the above although only at Pools for a short while was a good player and popular with supporters, was one of the first black players at Pools for a long time many years after the late great Tony Parry. I remember going to Haifax for a mid week League cup tie, Pools were attacking were the main group of supporters were behind the goal and were awarded a corner. As they were lining up the Halifax keeper shouted "leave the black b------ to me " over came the ball and Lenny headed in He stood on the line and when the celebrations died down his reply was"the black b------ scores again" the pefect way to defeat racist scum.

Sad news ! classy player for us, something a bit different. He was a bit lightweight and I was surprised he went on to become something of a midfield hard man at Burnley , bulked up and developed an edge.

Very moving interview with him on BBC sport website, going to be broadcast on BBC Radio Lancashire tonight and then available on I Player. Terrible affliction, just hope he can have more good days than bad.

God that's weird, we were talking about him this morning and how everyone was desperate to see the lad score. Paul Mullen in the Monkey Biz referred to him as Johnny Plumrose.
That's so sad, so unfair.

Wasn't prolific but always seemed to score in the more important games, Sheff Wed in LC, away at Donny in FA Cup, away at Plymouth when we were 2 -0 down at half time and appeared dead and buried , yet ended up getting a 2-2 draw and away at Stoke when we got battered , yet amazingly won 1-0.

Good luck Lenny !

Bloody hell poor bloke, increbidle to be able to talk about it so candidly as well I loved him as Pools player as a kid weirdly I always remember Lawrence (when the disabled enclosure was that awful cage next to the Rink End) chanting “Lennie Lennie Lennie”

Anyway best of luck to him.

Watched the interview. Heart breaking how this disease strikes relatively young people. It got to me when you could start hearing the emotion in Lennys voice.

This bloke is a true Pooly legend. Anyone who was around at the time will tell you how good the team in which he played was and how significant he was to it. They'll tell you how his name was heard time after time chanted around the Vic.

Best wishes to you and your family Lenny.

A good time had by all I believe. A good move by the club , that's why I liked Gibson, innotative , and common sense in terms of cost and teams fitness.

I was on the train with a Sunderland fan and two Plymouth fans from were I worked, a very good day out.
