1-1. Maidstone have signed some decent young players and won't be a pushover.

Fair result. Pools had the best of the first half but the Stones attacked more in the second. Loach made a couple of excellent saves to hang on to a point.
I thought their penalty was controversial as the opponent went to head a ball around waist height. Getting a kick in the head under those circumstances is par for the course in my book. One good feature of the game for me was Pools solid defending, particularly down the middle so hopefully our soft centre is a thing of the past. Man of the match was Davies who was outstanding in defence and sometimes in attack! He is the hard man we so desperately needed last season. On the strength of that game, Maidstone will struggle more than us this season.
