Anyone excited by it? I'm really struggling but know I'll end up watching most the games although some of the earlier ones like Russia vs Saudi Arabia and Morocco vs Iran hardly whet the appetite.

It's hard to see past Germany as winners when they can leave players like Sané out of the squad but I have a feeling Argentina will win it.

England have hardly blown anyone away so I predict they'll surprise everyone including themselves by making the semi finals.

Tim Vickery the South American Football expert who is often on Hawksbee and Jacobs has been saying for ages that it’s the worst Argentina team in living memory, more the worst defensive unit they have ever had at one point he was saying they might not even qualify so I think they would be a shock but with the quality they have going forward they can’t be ruled out.

France have one of the strongest squads on paper so are worth a mention and Brazil seem in better order than four years ago. You can never right off the Italians either, they might find to a way to be their in the next two weeks, maybe they might just turn up and see if anyone says anything.

As long as they turn up with their cheque book I'm sure FIFA will be fine about it.

France have a great squad but they nearly always implode. I wasn't basing my opinion of Argentina on any facts or logic, I mean Portugal won the last Euros so why would I!

Sadly for England Benteke has been left out of Belgium's squad.

Germany - they nearly got to Moscow in 1941 - this time the weather is in their favour.

I've got Panama in the office sweepstake, it's their year!

Apparently the Panama population are split in two as to if they win or not!

More chance of Blink 182 doing a decent cover version.

I got Nigeria.

Got as much chance of them winning it as GDPR legislation stopping their princes emailing me offering untold riches.

Didn’t Belgium qualify first out of everyone but hosts?

France are my picks, but think Germany, Brazil and Spain all have a good shout too.

Portugal are coming good just before the WC. Dark horses and the Euro champs. Hard to beat, leak very few goals, worth a tenner.
