The right elbow on the left knee helps with extra push and can reversed to left elbow on right knee.

Current thinking is that the thinker is actually mourning, as opposed to thinking. If he was thinking, he's be more likely to be holding his chin in his hand (bit like Vic and Bob's 'ponderers').
