Echo saying Matty Bates will be having a press conference on Friday, time for the retained list?

Morgan Bacon could prove a good rind for a club hopefully he’s kept the weight off and is no longer a porker.

Cambell-Ryce could decent at this level being serious and not cheaply searching for weak puns. Plus it stop him playing well against us.

Agree he was very good in his day but he's 35 now and didn't get so much as a sub appearance in his little spell at Carlisle.

He made nearly 40 appearances in League Two last season including 10 for Carlisle, a bit of creativity and experience I reckon he could do a job for us at this level.

Martin Gray already snapping up Gateshead players for York City including striker York and Sean Penn - could these lads have done a job for us? I thought the plan was to get into the transfer market early doors? No sign of the retained list, Bates off on his jollies and nothing forthcoming from Singh or Hignett - smacks of deja-vu?

Agreed, why should we be rushing out to sign players from a club, Gateshead who finished 2 places below Pools in the league ?

The same Sean Penn who was married to Madonna? We want fresh young talent, not blokes of his age at the end of his acting career.

And who has wrote the most terrible book EVER....FACT!!!!

To help you prepare yourselves, here are just a few of Penn's many atrocities against the English language (he really likes alliteration):

Evading the viscount vogue of Viagratic assaults on virtual vaginas.

Criminal crumbs and corresponding celebrity crusts, bound together by dough.

This goat-backed lioness began to hoot like a bruxism bedevilled banshee.

The (Barely Existent) Plot Is Complete Nonsense
Perhaps the only thing you need to know about Penn's book is that the brief first chapter, about three elderly people getting murdered in their retirement home, is called "Seeking Homeostasis in Inherent Hypocrisy." Penn writes like he's looked up every single word in his thesaurus except "dictionary." He uses unnecessary terms, then provides 70 footnotes to explain the definition of the unnecessary terms, because he assumes that his readers aren't at his level of intelligence. In a way, he isn't wrong.

Here's a typical sentence, in this case describing a woman: Effervescence lived in her every cellular expression, and she had spizzerinctum to spare. Penn thinks that if less is more, then more must be incredible. He writes novels like they're a high school essay he's desperate to pad.

sctatchinghead

Don’t be too impatient. Things are going on already with certain targets. Tommy Miller Snr is back scouting and players have been in on trial. One is a promising 22 year old Centre half from Newcastle who has been on loan up in Scotland and is built like a brick outhouse. He’s hoping to land a div1 or 2 club but looking at Pools because of Higgy and Ged Mcnamee.

If we’d have signed them you’d be hysterically flapping your gums about signing a team who managed to finish below us casts off and bleating about a tiny budget and lack of ambition.

Singh, despite being well off, does not like paying players for longer than he has to. Shoestring Singh.
Heard that he tried to cut corners on one of his housing developments by installing the ducting for the telecoms in-house instead of getting BT to do it. Made a mess of it and now its costing him loads to put right. A bit daft really when the actual houses are reputably very good!

I would assume most companies do install their own telecomms in domestic and industrial properties. BT charge over the odds and it's not a difficult job.

Besides, he'd have to be daft to run a football club the same way he runs other businesses.

I dunno what to think, can someone let me know what they are wearing and if their dress sense is ok.

Bit wintry for the time of year I'd say. The scarf is smart - I'll be having one of them.

A typical and entirely predictable response from Herr PJ - at no point did I suggest that we should sign this pair I was merely asking a valid question if they could do a job for the club. Another example of the bullies that give this board a bad name in action - FFS grow up son. And from Bates comments on Radio Borer tonight it could be pre-season training time before we see any activity in the transfer market so maybe (shock horror) I wasn't not too far off the mark with my last comment. Good luck with early bird st sales if this is the case.

I think my point is valid, you appear to be an attention seeker who posts to get a reaction. Nothing about my comments could be taken as peronal or insulting so bullying doesn’t really come into it. Had we signed those two players I don’t think it’s out of the question that you’d have posted something along those lines.

Bates isn’t ‘on his jollies’ and we have a director of football now who has been looking at and lining up potential signings for a while, I think it’s encouraging that we aren’t sniffing around Gatesheads carcass, they were worse than us last season which is some going.

You mean he won’t be installing the ducting for the telecoms on the vic pitch?

I’m not going again until singh installs ducting for the telecoms

WONT SOMEONE THINK OF THE TELECOMS!

You're right I don't like him. But my point is that even when he appeared to be 100% behind running Darlo he would do it on the cheap and avoid paying players for as long as possible, usually meaning clubs who offered contracts to players that we were after usually got them by getting them signed as soon as possible instead of holding off to save a few weeks wages.

Loan Star, football contracts don’t work like that when a player is out of contract he joins another club and the payroll of another club when the previous one expires.

It’s hard to take anything you post seriously anymore as your views are so tainted by your dislike for the man. I mean going on about ducting in this thread, words fail me.

The main priority when recruiting must be for proven goal scorers. The best defensive record of Wrexham (39) only gave them 10th place in the NL.
It doesn't take a great coach to 'park the bus' (no pun intended). Defending for long periods and pinching a winner against part-time teams is no way to progress to the EFL. For me, success for Bates and Hignett will be if they can build a team that wants to attack and demonstrate that there is a gap in class between full time and part-time teams.

Luke James played for Hignett and with Bates in his loan spell a couple of years ago, so they both know all about him as a player and a character.

Now that he's finally found his shooting boots again I'd be amazed if they weren't interested, but would he come? He's been on big wages for the last couple of years and I'd imagine Luke and his lovely lovely agent will be hoping he's done enough at Barrow to interest another League Two club.

Shut up PJ. Once a players contract runs out, usually at the end of the season post play off period, he doesnt get paid until he signs for a new club. If you think otherwise then you're just proving yourself ignorant. Thats why players go on trial to get contracts. You don't honestly think they get paid while on trial do you?
And as for my dislike for Singh, how long will you hold a grudge against Coxall? stpid stpid stpid

As has been said over and over again Coxall is an outright conman, who had no money. I will always dislike what he did to my club with his probably worse mate but I wouldn’t even attempt to suggest I was posting in fair and rational manner about him if he ever became chairman of Darlo, which he never will because whatever you think of Raj which is your prerogative him and Coxall are not in the same World never mind League.

Thing is despite what Coxall did, you didn't get relegated down to the NL. Singh destroyed us and then he has the nerve to expect Blackledge to do what he refused to do in waiving the debt owed until the club was in a position to pay it back. But anyway, my original point was that I reckon most of your signings will be made late in the summer to save money. Thats how Singh works.
