Now that is an interesting appointment.

He went on a visit to a premiership rugby club last week. Might have been Saracens.
He probably wanted to their props to learn him a few new punches like.

His podcast is canny, if your into podcasts and delving deep into sports mens minds n tha.

He mentioned on said platform that he was looking to make a comeback next season, assumed it was as a footballer.

He might kit up like.

When he’s calm and collected he’s comes across pretty well and talks well about the game. The problem is he’s prone to losing it and prone to making stupid decisions. My last memory of him playing was the Burnley v Lincoln FA Cup tie last season when he completely embarrassed himself trying to cheat against non league players.

How’s he going to go about discipline as well? He’s hardly a shining light in that respect is he? It’s not as if he’s made one mistake in his career is it? Any player would feel like pointing that out if they were getting a bollocking from him. What if a few decisions go against his team, especially if he’s lost a few games and is under pressure? He’s a right billy big bollocks as well hearing him talk you’d think is/was a far better player than he ever was. I just wonder what he’ll lose first the dressing room or his head!

Valid points, it'll be an entertaining watch i'm sure.

Fair play to him for staying in the game, to his credit everytime he does something daft he admits it, swallows it up, talks about it n goes again, maybe he can use that to his advantage.

I'd argue that if he's matured since retiring from playing he'd make a good role model for younger players, sometimes reformed characters are the best people for trouble makers to learn from. However I'm not convinced he has matured much over the years.
He had to retire early due to breaking gambling laws didn't he and as mentioned already he felt it neccessary to cheat against non league opposition.

If he had been named Pools manager I wouldn't of been impressed in the slightest but good luck to Fleetwood.

Anyone who can outdo Steve McLaren at the I-speak-a-ze-English interviews can't be all bad.

Finished his autobiography about a month ago. One of the best sports autobiographies you’ll ever read, FACT.

He's was a footballer that few will remember what he did as a footballer, instead they will remember what an absolute prick of a human he was.

I honestly can't remember anything he did noteworthy on the pitch.

Its a funny thing, Amnesia. I'm struggling to remember anything Joey Barton did on the pitch too, yet I remember vividly the goal you scored on pitch 3 at Grayfields

Not sure what your point is Horden.

Of course you'd remember a goal I scored as they were so few and far between due to being a defender comparable to Scott Harrison.
