Never has a game pointed so much to a home win as this one. Lost last 3 games , Simon Walton playing for them. I hope I'm wrong and its a coupon buster, but they look exactly the type of side we don't like playing against, big and strong, bloody hell they even have Ian Baird is coach , and he was as hard as nails in his playing days. I expect a defeat, and it could be a heavy one, with the usual capitulation/sending offs etc.

3-1 defeat

Stranger things have happened , and it is the National League, were teams seem to play in fits and starts, win 5 lose 5 etc, but this is Pools, and its not 10/1 for nothing. I will be keeping my money in my pocket.

Wait until we are sponsored by Samsung and get a 5G pitch, the opposition won't be laughing at us then.

Surely Torquay is the only vaguely winnable game we have left?

Everything else is a huge loss...

Good result that, I'd of easy took a point from this game I thought it was going to be a 3-4 nil to them to be honest considering our last 2 home results, One more win I reckon against Leyton Orient I reckon on Tuesday night and where safe

Woking have fewest games left. They need us to lose our last three, to win both of theirs or a draw, a win and a 9 goal swing to overtake us and Barrow need 6 points from 4 games.

The wife had faith, even if I didn't, went for 1-1 and a Hawkes goal, and has a return of £30 for her 50p

That point should be enough, I hope Hawkes is tied down to a contract. it looks bad for Woking at the moment , but to be certain , surely we can win one of our home games ?. Woking have Guiseley away and Dover at home. If the unthinkable happens and we lose to Torquay and Orient, you just know Woking would beat Dover on the last day. Wouldn't fancy us at Tranmere at all, which by the way I've just noticed is a 1230pm kick off , bloody television ruining a good pre-match drink.

I’d imagine Hawkes is under contract until at least the end of next season as he only signed his first pro deal at the start of this season. He’s already scored as many career goals as Lewis Hawkins who’s two cane within about five minutes of the same match!

ONLY seen Hawkes play in the last 3 home games. But that's enough for my player of the year.

Makes you wonder why he wasn`t played earlier and Bates position in that?

Not really, the previous manager clearly didn't fancy him. If said previous manager didn't attend reserve games that his own fault.

Bates wasn’t picking the team was he. He didn’t play earlier in the season because the previous manager didn’t pick him.

Bates picked him towards end of last season, so I will give Bates credit , in that he seen what I and others saw, in that Hawkes is a decent player. A travesty that he never started this season, FFS! they even sent him out on loan to Northern League didn't they? Must of upset Harrison and CO

Will he do a Brad Walker, decent first season or so.then downhill from there or was that down too the Manager at the time ?

I think Hawkes , if managed correctly will kick on in the game. Probably bit of both with Walker, last 2 or 3 years he never looked like a footballer to me , his gait and the way he moved was strange , and made him look as though he was always lumbering around. Was surprised he did half decent when moved to centre half, but still wasn't good enough. Any player at pools over last 5 or 6 years could use the clubs decline as reason they never got on, poor managers, training , facilities, not being paid etc, some with good reason , others just an excuse. We can only speculate, as no one seems to know for sure what the hell has gone on these last five years or so.

How we finished the first half level is beyond me. After the first 20 minutes I thought it was going to be a 6-0 drubbing. We improved in the 2nd half but still didn't create much to trouble their little goalie.

Loach MOM for me with several superb saves. Sutton's finishing was crap too.

Adams is weak as piss. Please scatter him.

Hawkes looks like a very good prospect.

Cassidy held it up very well and won loads in the air, just a shame there was no one to play off him.

Donaldson very underwhelming again. Please scatter him.

Midfield 3 covered a lot of ground but were slow to get forward.

Hawkins didn't have a bad game.

Laing nearly managed to gift them it in the last minute. Please scatter him.

Magnay mostly solid.

Oates and Rodney made a big difference when they came on, maybe should have been introduced earlier.

I don't think Harrison touched it much but made a valuable contribution by wasting a bit of time by coming on.

Not a bad ground, sort of average for this level. Sutton looks like a depressing place to live though.
