Ray Wilkins has passed away after suffering a heart attack a few days ago.

Very sad news he came across as a genuinely nice man, and was a very good player.

RIP. Fantastic player. The first player I remember in the 70s, who played like a continental midfield maestro , a bit different to the brutal midfield players around at the time, though Wilkins could handle himself, you had to be able to in the 70s.

I remember a friendly England v Egypt 1986 in which the Egyptian players, who had previously criticised England's lack of skill, started to showboat, so Butch started showing off his skills and they couldn't get near him. He ended up humiliating them and England strolled to a 4-0.

Shocked. I thought he was superb in Scum but those betting adverts got a bit boring.
