Amazed he was only 80 when he died. He looked past retirement age when he was presenting Bullseye 30-40 year ago. Talk about a hard paper round...

Well he certainly wasn't a comedian, he was just an actor when it came to delivering jokes.
The man had absolutely no response to a little bit of repartee from the audience, beleive me. All he could do was deliver a prepared set of jokes from a script.
But fair play to the guy, he made a career out of minimum talent and you have to take your hat off to that.

Me and our lass went to see his Edinburgh show about 12 years ago, and he was really good. I was expecting some old gold stuff, but he was surprisingly contemporary.
