As we all do I keep hoping the worst won't happen to Pools, but say the club does go into liquidation and we have to reform as a phoenix club, how does this work?

Is it something that the trust can be involved in running from the start? Can the trust approach Musgrave as he might be more interested in building the club from the start with no books that have went completely arse tit? Or have there already been conversations about him with this?

And will a phoenix club definitely be able to play at the Vic?

I suppose that would depend on if the council would lease the ground to the club, and if the club could take on that cost

The council would be daft not to lease the ground at a nominal cost given they already recognise the value it adds to the town.
I'd suggest they make it a small percentage of the gate rather than a set figure like they have now so everyone benefits from any success.

Fast Forward to August.
We will be Part Time in the Northern Premier ( evostik ) NORTH division with crowds of 2000 +.
Fans Owned with hopefully a few generous donations from the better off trust elite Stelling maybe Cosgrove and local buisnesses.
Will be hard work but other clubs have done it with smaller fan bases.

K.P.G. that is exactly my feelings now, lets just get it over with, go bust let the bastards go away with what they deserve...nowt! and start again from wherever that may be. We will still have a reliable sound following of fans and no debts. It,s a new era for Pools fans things can only improve. rolf

The way I see it is we wouldn't be fan or trust owned; we'd be an actual club with actual members. Exactly like Barcelona and Real Madrid in fact.
That doesn't mean we'd be writing the Trust off. Its role would just be tweaked to suit the circumstances.
Put it this way, somebody would have to take the initiative and found the new entity; it's not going to happen through Brownian motion.

Given the split in the pools fans I worry we’ll end up with at least two teams ala Scarborough!! I hope sense prevails!

Maybe it's time for questions to be asked of the FA. They have a fit and proper person test for buying football clubs yet every season a new club gets bled dry by dodgepots. Is this something the local MP would look into?

Completely agree.
The authorities are not squeaky clean in all this. another bone for journos to chew on.
Jeff Stelling must know plenty of good investigative Pressmen who could stir the shit up over this.

Sounds to me like they should take their test and bin it.
It's obviously testing a dud set of criteria, probably the result of a completely skewed agenda from a completely out of touch governance.

Yes, let's get it over with and start with a clean sheet. Please, please don't have any truck with AFC prefix. Hopefully Hartlepools United is acceptable.

By all means start afresh, we'll probably have no other choice, but don't forget who did this to us.

Doubt Hartlepools United would be accepted as it’s too similar to the original name, we went through all this at Darlo and we’re even advised not to bother with AFC Darlington - seems they don’t like that type of thing these days. You’d also be starting in the Northern League if liquidated as you’d be treated as a new club. Despite us settling all football related debts we were still treated as a new club so you’ve no chance if you’re just going to walk away from it all.

Liquidation seems the only way forward without somebody putting a lot of money into the pockets of the people who have got us where we are now. In the long run we will have a fans owned club and nobody bleeding us dry. It can be done look at all the trust and fans run clubs how many have gone bust ? A great example is AFC Wimbledon now on the verge of going back to plough lane and they started from scratch. Why are the F.A so keen to punish clubs that have been fleeced by conmen that they seemed fit and proper persons to own a football club they need to take some responsibility for their part in this fiasco.

We argued at the time we should be placed in a higher league due to away crowd sizes and safety - unsuccessfully. If Pools retain their crowds, then who knows?

Funnily enough I was going to mention the badge but realised since the current regime recently changed it you’d be glad to have to change it

Isn’t the new club, start at the bottom question answered by who owns the “football share” and if they’re prepared to sell it (for an unextortionate cost)?

Couple of good points made about the FA. Like the point above and one made by one of the Darlo fans its Pools and the clubs who get punished by the FA for being turned over by con men who the FA have deemed fit and proper. Maybe it's time the Council for example sued the FA for gross incompetence resulting in the loss of the Towns football club and all the positive aspects it brings to the town. I know it's never been done before but the system isn't working is it.

It's not like we've gone pop because we have been paying way over the odds for players beyond our means it's all dodgy payments to a bunch of charlatans

As I said in another post, Northern League, fan owned. That suits me as if were in Evo Stik run by so called experts in their field business people, we will end up in NL anyway. FFS ! its these bounders who have the country in the mess it is in. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Yep I think you're right. Providing we kept the Vic somehow we'd have a great chance of coming back sooner rather than later

But apparently this means I want the club to die and it might put off some potential investors richer than Musgrave (and less thorough) who could still be hanging around.

To be very clear I want a club to be in this town playing football at the Vic and representing this community forever, if we go into administration or liquidation it will be because of JPNG and Sage not me and people facing up to reality now.

I would say that investors would be happy that there are such a committed group of people around this club who are prepared to support the club and help it survive even if we drop a little and change our name a little.

Said it before , if a team plays at the Vic on behalf of this town it's Pools full stop!!!

But don’t you think this is a mirror image of the current government, only listen and take notice of those at the top because they are their paymasters and turn their noses at those at the bottom as they are irrelevant!!!!!!!!
