Trust Fundraising Statement - Posted: Tuesday 23 January 2018
In response to the large volume of people we have had contacting us wanting to make donations to a Trust Fighting Fund, and in light of today’s comments in the press from a potential investor, we have taken the decision to implement our Contingency Plan.

Anyone wanting to donate via card payment can now do so here :

https://supportersdirect.sharein.com/invest/901

On the site we have published a clear guide as to what the money can and cannot be used for, along with a page for Frequently Asked Questions. Essentially the money will sit in a secure ring fenced bank account until it is needed.

There will be page set up on our own website within the next 24 hours for anyone wishing to donate directly via bank transfer or cheque.

We have been told that the club are still in talks with at least one interested party, and while they are hopeful of selling the club, there are no guarantees this will happen given the current financial situation.

For that reason we felt we needed to continue building the Fighting Fund, to protect us against all eventualities, which would include becoming a partner with potential investors.

We will be making a further statement tomorrow

Lobbed £100 for now in this morning.

The clear guide to how the money will be held / used gave me confidence the money will ultimately be used wisely when the time is right.

Hope many others follow.

I'm struggling to donate to the SD fund by card. Is there any way of doing it through Paypal?

Will the loaf be on display to help any prospective members make up their mind?

Could someone say what the fee is that Supporters Direct charge for their crowdfunding site and given there is the option to pay direct to the trust using the above bank details is this the ring fenced account or the general Trust account? Do the Trust recommend using the SD route or the direct transfer? Is there going to be a register of who has donated what?

Rules for this, rules for that. Can do this, can't do that. Can't do fuck all without Supporters Direct's say so... certainly can't do anything quickly.

Some of this is the downside of SD. Do not believe that they have any magic bullets. They are bureaucrats wrapped up in more paperwork and more red tape. It is essentially an underfunded quango. Their handling of the situation with the club finances and demanding the books as undertaken was frankly pathetic.

I think we can do better without then and frankly if I was still involved I'd be talking about disassociating ourselves with them as Darlo did at one point.

Are there any lines of communication open between the Trust and their counterparts at Darlo? I feel like they might be able to give us the benefit of their experience pretty soon...

They've always been happy to help when asked questions. Sadly that gap we told them to mind could soon be widening again, only with us at the shitty end.

Imagining the gap was permanent has always been a delusion.
Pools and Darlo are linked by a 100-year old hidden force preventing either from straying too far too long from the other. Our current 10-year separation is but a drop in the ocean.

So it's Darlo's fault we're in the predicament we now find ourselves in? Bastads!
