Great echoing guitar on this one...

Great track... Sad story. The Passions had a contract with Fiction records. Fiction always seemed to be skint at the time and when Fiction boss Chris Parry had any money he'd always put it on his pet project, The Cure. Another Fiction act, Dundee's Associates actually gave Parry the middle finger and created their own indie label Situation2 round that time because they just couldn't take it anymore. So basically Fiction were their tight-fisted usual selves when they released the new Passions single and well, they didn't press enough records. They'd never thought the single would get so much daytime airplay anyway. Admittedly, Parry had never thought it would sell that much in the first week of release. So the song entered the chart at number 25, the Passions appeared on Top of the Pops but on the next day, when people tried to buy the single, you could hardly find it in the shops anymore. By the end of the week it was out of stock. It took Fiction about two weeks (!) to get a new batch in the shops. By then the song wasn't played anymore on Radio 1 -the momentum was gone. So in the end The Passions only enjoyed 2 and a half minutes of their 15 minutes of fame and disappeared from sight. They quietly disbanded less than two years later.
