It seems pointless hoping for a "good" draw with England as recent evidence suggests it makes absolutely no difference.

Looking at the current England team and assuming Southgate doesn't pick Joe Hart in goal there is absolutely no reason why they shouldn't have a decent world cup. England can always seem to find a way, though!

Joe Harts performance on Wednesday has to be the final nail in his international coffin.

He's pretty much making at least 1 mistake every week but wednesday was even worse, came rushing out for the first everton goal and gave away a daft penalty, timing all off. Rooneys 3 goal - if you come out that far n leave your goal exposed, you have to clear it out the ground or so far down the pitch your not in danger - he did neither.

Pickford looks assured confident n everything harts not.

I think Southgate has already indicated he's capable of being quite ruthless if he has to. The way he decided Smalling wasn't required anymore was very direct for an England manager and in the case of Hart it's debatable whether this even counts as being ruthless given the poor bloke is simply waiting to be put out of his misery. I'm hopeful he'll pick Pickford ahead of Hart.

Whilst ultimately he will be judged on what happens in the final tournament itself I think Southgate has been quietly impressive so far as England manager. I fully appreciate however that you could, with the exception of Taylor, McClaren and possibly Keegan, arguably say that about any England manager in the last 30 years if you're just going on qualifying results and friendlies.

If Hart keeps up this current form then he shouldn't be anywhere near the squad, he is being picked on his past form and probably because previous managers have always called him up.

Although Everton have been shite this season, Pickford should get the nod ahead of Hart. Even Fraser Forster is worth a shout.

Sky sports has a pick your World Cup squad thingy on its app and having a look at the centre mids it's so uninspiring, we aren't even close to competing with the big sides and if Southgate can get us to the quarters he'll have done a fantastic job.

For what it's worth my keepers would be Butland, Pickford and Heaton

I feel a lot more optimistic about the midfield slots now than i did 2-3 months ago.

It's not at the level required to win the tournament but the likes of winks and loftus cheek have showed potential to be brave on the ball and have done more in 2-3 games than henderson has done in 4-5 years.

I'd put henderson in the same bracket as joe hart for being nowhere near good enough to play.

Belgium have the best player in the Premiership in De Bruyne, a player not too far behind him in Hazard, a keeper who is probably in the top 3 keepers in the Premiership as well as a selection of the best defenders. It's baffling how they consistently perform so poorly and surely can't continue for another tournament.

I've not much to say about the other two teams.

They will peak soon, bit of a team of individuals at the moment but if they click they can do some damange.

Thankfully we have them last game so ideally we are both qualified by then n it'll just be a big bore fest n we can rest players they can n we can just have a game of heads n volleys.

That could barely have been improved had England simply said who they wanted.

Heart says it'll be two surging 3-0 victories over Tunisia and Panama followed by an entertaining 1-1 with Belgium seeing England hurtle into the second round as group winners on goal difference.

Head then steams in to spoil the fun. Two utterly turgid draws followed by a spirited but ultimately inept 2-1 defeat to Belgium.
