Went on my annual pilgrimage to the Vic in what was Dave Jones final game. Was in hospitality before the game and met Malcolm Dawes, what a legend he was and a very modest man with it. He told some interesting stories about his time at Pools and in America, an absolute gentleman who deserves his award on Saturday and rather apt as he also played for Aldershot.

Player of the year for three clubs over three years running, pretty impressive.

Second that. One of Trimdon's finest (along with Jim Provett :-) )

Wasn’t John Tinkler a Trimdon lad as well?

It’s an amazing array of locations for three consecutive seasons Hartlepool, Workington, New York

Everyone knows I'm a Trimdon lad. I know Tinks well; he still lives there. Colin Cooper is also from Trimdon.

Village, Grange or Colliery? I grew up in the Village myself.

The ever unreliable interweb says Colin Cooper was born in Sedgefield.

I went to school with Jim Provett's dad Robert (another goalie) and knew young Jim's grandda, also Jim.

Trimdon Colliery.

Cooper was defo a Trimdon lad. There were three good young players who came through at the same time; Cooper, Tinks and Andrew Strong. Andrew Strong was also on Boro's books (and was probably the most talented of the three) but liked life a bit too much!

Dear Mr fat man, I played on the same Sedgefield team as Strongy and Cooper. How do you get photos on here, I have one to show you. With Mr Luke, Hilder, Robinson Etc.

I've no idea, but would love to see them!

Strongy was/is a legend. I played cricket with him (and Tinks). Have a look at the Boro squad for the year he played; some good names in that list:

Did Davy Upton also play for that Sedgefield team?
