Just purchased an old Hartlepool shirt from their ebay shop.
Nice black shirt, brand new. It has the name 'Greulich' and the no. 24 on the back.
Must admit I'd never heard of him, anyone ever see him play ?

Yes.

Hailed as the next someone or other by Chris Turner.

Remember him coming on as a sub and not touching the ball.

Also remember him coming on as a sub against York in a friendly, my old man commented that the trialist was poor. We offered him a contract.

In fairness, he was a young lad mind.

I got one of those tops too. Blue and white one from 2014-15 with no sponsor on it. Number 5 on the back.

Wish they sold more footy tops without sponsors.

Cheers Guys, went in the pub tonight, proudly wearing my new Pools shirt, I live in Leigh, Lancashire (near Wigan) but my mates who are mainly Bolton Wanderers fans, asked about the name on the back of my shirt and asked was he any good. (after googling him) i replied, "er, he played 4 games for us in 2 years, then was released and now plays non-league football for Shildon" They absolutely pissed their sides as to why I was wearing his shirt - the bastards !!" Sod them, it's a nice top, and at least we are not £100 million in debt.

If this is any consolation, he scored yesterday and Shildon up to the 4th in the ENL1, you tell em that!

I used to have a patter on with his gran at southern away games, she still used to come and watch us after he was released. Another one of those who got the Poolie bug.

My memory of Billy Greulich is twatting a ball into the crowd before a game and knocking an old fella over.

If only Behan had aimed at the fella with the pie he might have hit the back of the net.

I remember Dennis Behan doing shooting practice in front of the Town End before a game. First shot knocked a pie out of this bloke's hands, which he took in good humour. Second shot knocked the chips out of his other hand (D'ya remember when you used to get chips at Pools in the TWWWWOOOOO THHHOOOOUUSSSAANNNDSS!?) which he was not pleased about. He moved away to drink his bovril.

This story is not Billy Greulich related, but it is smashing a ball into a crowd related, and Dennis was undoubtedly the best at that.

Serves Luscombe right for dodging the warm up to get some food.
