Showing us lot's of respect, forgot he scored against us at Sunderland in 2003.....

His second-half strike – scored against the run of play
He said: “I remember there were a lot of Hartlepool fans there that day and we managed to win 1-0. “It was a very competitive game, and it was fantastic for me personally to get the winner. “Hopefully history can repeat itself and we can get the win, although I don’t care if it’s me who scores or someone else.”

Phil Babb hooking a Williams shot out of the goalmouth as well.

We matched them man for man, great game.

I just remember the noise. If we had scored, as we should have done, i don't know if that stand would have survived.

Who wrote that!?

His strike ensured that Sunderland didn't suffer an upset against one of the lowest ranked teams left in the competition!?

I know they are looking for an angle and a comparison but it wouldn't take much research (about a minute) to dismiss that as horse shit. Both clubs finished in the play offs one division apart at the end of that season, and as a club competing at the top end of League One I don't think we were one of the lowest ranked clubs in the third round of the cup. Very poor lazy stuff really. It was a very even game that we probably shaded, Sunderlands two quality players on the day were Arca and Poom. I don't think we appreciated those days at the time. We were queuing then to be part of a near 10,000 away following In a 40,000+ crowd now people are worrying about getting a ticket for South Shields :(

Please don't accuse the Sunderland Echo of being a newspaper these days.

When it's your job to write about football and interview people about it, it's surely not too much to ask to spend five minutes research on the matter.

Oh Pools played Sunderland, I'd imagine Hartlepool were bottom of division four and Sunderland were in the Premier League. I won't check I'll just assume it and put it to print.

Well, this is the same paper who hired a sports journalist and then sacked him off a few days after it turned out he called Sunderland fans scum on Twitter...

I would rejoice at a cloud to be honest it's been a while I'm sat on the balcony now at midnight and I reckon this has the first time I've been outside in 5 weeks when the temperature has been sub 30 degrees.

I'm very misunderstood on here I'm not shouting or arguing really just pointing out people who are wrong/have appalling craic/ or are a bit thick/ all of the above. I don't think I'm ever abusive or any of that jazz. The trait that pisses off my wife the most (of many) is how ridiculously laid back I am. I can't single out a moment when I have genuinely lost my temper in my 35 years to date, although some of the drivers out here have came close!

Anyway it's a shite article.

Also I don't think I quite have a 'middle eastern backside' yet, things need to become at least one notch more solid before I will get boastful about that.

Plus I've not seen a Camel yet never mind it's dung. I reckon if one tried to walk about around here it would be wiped out on a slip road by a bloke in Arabic dress driving a Porsche Cayenne trying to overtake to gain a crucial centimetre before that red light.

You know what, we do have this awful habit of castigating anyone who has slightly off the wall ideas. Who gave you or I the monopoly on wisdom?

We used to have a fella on here called Poolie of Kent and he got a bit of grief from some because like Mr Twilight some of his posts were mad as a box of frogs. M ost of us would love to see the Kent One back on the board.

I think Mr Twilight is crackers but I'm glad he's here.

I love crackers/different people that's why I haven't taken any of Mr Twighlights replies to heart despite some very upsetting comments from (nod to Athletico Mince fans) him.

This message board is also a miles worse off place without Poolie of Kent, those were The Bunkers best days some brilliant threads then.

I wish it was me, apart from the fancy dress costume and dangerous driving, I'm in a shit tip of a hire car. Ok I wish it was me for the Porsche bit.
