I don’t think I’ve ever been so bored watching an England game before. Usually with a shadow squad we play a better style of football but we were awful to watch again. I honestly couldn’t give a fuck about us going to the World Cup because on these showings we are going to bore the fuck out of everyone.

Just like Pools as long as they win.

That's the worst England game I've seen since Thursday.

3G pitches shouldn't be allowed at any level above amateur football though, I don't think I've ever seen a decent game on one.

Oh man even I can't be an apologist for that "performance ".

Why are they so cautious and pragmatic against a team that Pools could probably beat?

So many times there's a chance to make a forward pass and they go backwards or sideways instead, or a chance of a quick break from the keeper but no he keeps hold of the ball for 10 seconds and the chance is gone.

The mentality seems to be "don't lose the ball whatever happens" and it just leads to dull unimaginative uncreative football.

Saying all that at least we qualified, and we've got some time to improve.

They probably will but then get knocked out in the first knockout game, that's what usually happens..
Think the last World Cup was the first time since 58 England failed to get out the group stage.

On any given day this England team, or rather 11 English players, are capable of beating any team in the world.

Having a manager that seems scared to pick the best players and sets them up not to lose against extremely mediocre opposition is what will ultimately mean we will fall at the usual spot.

We might anyway, but at least we could try and entertain in the process.

This grinding out of results is fine as long as you win. As soon as defeats set in its fucking awful.

A dull team with a dull manager. But one given a remit just to qualify and be giving a quarter of a million pounds bonus for doing so.

He has done what he was asked.

He will probably get the same again if we get out of the group.

Whilst we all keep dumbing down expectations this is what we end up with.

I was in the pub watching it but we ended up turning it over at half time and putting the Scotland game on which was much more entertaining.

Absolutely spot on. The good thing with Waddle is he's constructive and wants England to succeed, not like envious no marks like Danny Mills who just want to slag the players/manager off without exception.
