Soft as shite. As soon as the temperature drops, they're in my house, startling the bairns.

How did they cope before dwellings? They need to man up stay out in the wild.

Couple of huge ones recently in our place. Both got flushed with a load of bleach for good measure.

Mating season I think for them.

There has been reports of huge spiders being spotted all of th UK. Much bigger than normal.

I hate the fucking things. All those spotted in my house get extinguished immediately

Mind you I hate wasps even more.

Do they even have a point for exisiting?

Wasps help with pollination, spiders catch 1 in every million flys on the planet, fucking useless. Die hideous twats! Hate em!

Place a couple of chestnuts in each room, I thought it was a wind up but they do seem to work. Something to do with a chemical emanating from them.

Strangely, I've never really been bothered by spiders and, as kids, we picked them up without a second thought.

That said, I think that most of us were "Half a Crown Ha'Penny" over wasps, some of which are predatory and assist in keeping the number of garden 'pests' down. I freely admit to shitting myself if one was around and still feel slightly uncomfortable if one appears while I am eating. However, my dislike of them virtually vanished in a flash when I discovered .................horseflies! I don't think I was even aware of the bastards before, stripped to the waist, I was attempting to photograph an unusual blue butterfly on a hill in Bucks below the windmill which appeared in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Walking around, I could hear this loud buzzing and was aware that it had stopped before I felt a sharp pain on my arm. Looking down, I saw this large brown fucker enjoying my claret before I knocked it off. It was as if someone had stuck e.g. a compass into me. It made me think of the way the V-1 Flying Bomb would cut out and as soon as the buzzing stopped, a frantic search of the body ensued to see if I had been selected. I was on my way home very soon afterwards.

Unlike other insects which pierce the skin, these vicious little buggers chomp a lump out of the victim with their sharp jaws. Wasps - Pfff!

Wasps here don't frighten me. They must have the most wimpish sting in the world. Having a bit of gravel in your shoe is more painful.
Spiders are way better than flies because they can't do what flies do by definition.

I hate flies and therefore like spiders because they eat them.

That said, I'm not one to pick up a spider. I am not friends with them and I don't think they want to be mates either. And I admit to jumping on one that shot out from under our settee the other night. It was as big as a tarantula and faster than Rakish Bingham. There was a little bit of poo.

I'm a spiderman, not literally (I'm no super hero) , however they do no harm. If you dislike them get a cat! I once lived in an old house and when we got a cat the spider population went.

I try not to kill them where possible, I do the pint glass and takeaway menu trick to trap them, then hoy them out of the window.
