Lost all my old tapes when there were floods in Haydon Bridge. Real shame, had loads of excellent mix-tapes that I used to swap with a former Oscar's Clergyman and a few top quality Jah Shaka Sound System tapes that they used to sell at his sessions in Camden. All pretty much impossible to replace but at least my records were upstairs.

Haha! yes, he made exceedingly good ones too.

I THINK I've still got a big box of cassettes in the loft, not sure if they would have any value (or even if they'd still play!) but around '81 time I would buy new albums on cassette simply due to the fact that I had a Walkman and a Ghetto Blaster!

I went through a phase of buying albums on cassette and also got mates at college to tape albums for me as well.

Still have most of them. Might try a few out again one day. Lost a few good tapes at the time when the player chewed them up.

Aye how times have changed. You can put thousands of songs on a USB the size of your thumbnail and plug into your motor. Listen to endless hours of music. I had an eight track in one of my earlier motors, if I kept about half a dozen in the motor there wasn't enough room for any passengers!!!!

You could try the people at the following site

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/pee ... s/messages

I know that they have taken loads of peel tape collections and digitised/shared them in the recent past. I've shared 'a few' over the years.

Whenever a tape has snapped on me, I've used selotape and a Stanley knife to trim. No problems yet :)

Slit the two ends down the middle for about 5mm and splice them together on top of a piece of sellotape. Lay another strip of sellotape on the top and trim with scissors (or a scalpel). You lose about 200 millseconds if you do it well.
