I've tried to sign into my account on my laptop but I keep getting a message saying unable to do it but I can still use it as normal without signing in, it seems as if my windows has some how manged to to a factory reset on itself, so I can't access things that I have saved like photos/videos etc. The keyboard has even gone to an American version and I can't change that. It was working ok over the weekend and this has only happened this morning. I tried a system restore but that didn't work either.

I even tried turning it off and back on again.

Anyone have any ideas?

Take it out of the way of the children and smash the fucking thing with a hammer, twenty five times.

Then reboot.

What version of Windows Fensy? I'm no expert so don.t take my advice as gospel, I had a similar problem a while back.

Sounds like you've gone into a default user, possibly admin.

Find your way to users and reset your own password.

I couldn't get past the Login/password page in my case, so if Fensy is having the same problem, how do you get past the initial Login screen to admin etc?

CTRL-ALT-DEL should take you to the login screen

Tried that and still no joy, it seems to reset itself every time I sign out/shutdown, I saved a few websites to my favourites in my temporary account and they had gone when I tried to sign back in.

A quick look on google brought this page up, this is the same concern that I have

In your shoes I'd just reinstall Windows.

When that lad 'accidentally' halted the ransomware attack I actually imagine it was tREE. Obviously totally oblivious as to what he'd done.
