In the 60s and 70s you had to rob a bank or a jewellers with a shotgun to make serious money, now you just need a suit ,the gift of the gab , zero integrity and no principles. The rich and powerful have made the laws that don't make it illegal, just immoral to make a quick buck, rip people off. We see this every day with housing developments, football clubs and business deals that see employees robbed of money. There are plenty of Coxhall types about, he is not the only one, so whoever comes in , needs to be viewed with suspicion, Darlo had a string of serial entrepreneurs in charge who promised the earth before they finally hit rock bottom. .

Fair points however my point was that Coxall types are everywhere and generally in positions of power acquired by the very points you highlighted.

Yes, but you'll never eliminate them. It's a worldwide phenomenon, it's human nature. You have to be vigilant.
Trouble is, every time we blame someone else because of the system, we give them an excuse. We have to focus on the the perpetrator. We don't blame the fire brigade for a chip fire because chip pans can catch fire, we get rid of the chip pan and ask why we had it in the first place and never kept an eye on it.

I don't think people like that actually believe their own bullshit. i don't think they're compulsive liars. More like, they fancy themselves as great actors and go around playing out a role, right until the end. And as long as it works, the money and status they get from their 'performance' is nothing but some kind of normal reward for their talents. An actor is a paid liar. Sadly, the 'getting away with it all my life' mentality can be found everywhere and I think we can all become Coxall types if we're given a chance. Like when you're trying to talk a girl into bed you're going to tell her exactly what she wants to hear and make her promises you'll never keep, right? Of course you don't believe the things you tell her, you might get a little carried away but you're never gonna really marry her, give her a child and build her a big house in the prairie. You just wanna do her like, she's rather yummy and she's got a nice flat too so you wouldn't mind living there would you. And all these things you say, you just say them just to make her happy, don't you.
It can work for a while but sooner or later she'll realise you're taking advantage of her so what are you gonna do? Well, you ain't really going to own up are you, you will find plenty of excuses and a valid explanation for every time you let her down and obviously behave like a piece of shit. Again, you don't really believe in your own excuses, you know the thing is coming to an end and you just try to get away with it a little longer, you ain't a quitter, you're a born performer making it up as you go along, priding yourself in your ability to bamboozle any audience at your will. You ain't really lying anyway: you've spent time with her, been good to her, you even washed the dishes a couple of times -you ain't that bad of a bloke, come on.
Finally it's over, it's time to 'step down', but you know babe I really loved you, I didn't mean to hurt you even when I had sex with your cousin and you found us on the bed it wasn't what you think. OK so I made some mistakes but I was genuine and one day you'll realise we had a great time together. Gary's been a sham all along. Gary screwed us no end, Gary cheated on us and now our life's a mess and we finally came to our sense but he won't move out of the house unless he gets a fat cheque. I mean after all he put out a great performance and that's what really matters.
