With the Premiership not in action I've watched Scunthorpe v Bradford, now watching Doncaster v Plymouth.

So far been far better entertainment than the Premiership.

The entertainment will stop at 5pm when England kick off though confised

An absolute borefest as usual. We never look like we have a style of football, regardless who is manager.

Or by continuing to employ the safe, extremely boring, managers then expect the team to be equally boring.

Its not rocket science nor is it hardly surprising.

I thought we did ok against a side that offered little going forward.

I never realised that Southgate had an 82% win ratio for the U21s. Counts for little when you realise they were knocked out in the group stages of their last tournament, most England managers have similar records when you include friendlies and Sam Allardyce's record was much, much better!

The qualification groups for the World Cup and Euros are about as much use as friendlies for preparing for the sharp end of tournaments. Sven, Capello and Hodgson all breezed through the qualifiers; looks like Southgate will do the same.

I have zero interest in it all. Just bores me to death as does the "build up" and the "after match" discussions with the equally boring studio guests.

If we're going go say he should only be judged on tournaments and not friendlies or qualifiers why do we still judge him and his team's performance in friendlies and qualifiers, even when they win? I'm not trying to take any moral high ground here as I judge the fook out of England. Why anyone would want the England job baffles me, unless you win a tournament with a group of players not good enough to win a tournament, your not the right man for the job.

Win a tournament? You've got to watch the rugby if that's the aspiration. For the footie, an England team playing to the maximum of their limited potential is all anyone should ask.

These days England are pretty good at keeping possession (but still get passed off the park by the likes of Spain). What they struggle with is breaking down teams with a well organised defence. Rashford had a big impact yesterday when he came on because he's prepared to run at people and is hard to knock off the ball.
