Lets be honest £20/£30 would probably bring Collins in that far on such markets.

Who other than folk inside Pools would be backing Collins ?

I was going to stick a tenner on this morning to be honest, cheap option so probably the most likely with current goings on.

Forgot I shut my Skybet account though.

If Collins is the man left in charge of team affairs, just proves how badly Pools are being run financially.
A case of can the last one turn the lights off....

Most of the movement on these odds are down to speculation. Bookies will easily cut odds from 8/11 down to 1/2 without anything being taken.
People are suckers for betting on odds that have moved downwards, thinking someone is in the know.
If Collins is given the role, even temporary, anyone holding a betting slip will have to wait for 10 matches to be managed by him and in that time, someone else could come in.
These markets are best avoided, better to study the horse racing form if you want to make some cash.

Maybe GC went down to Throston bookies and put loads of money on Collins (Just kidding).

Would pay the tax bill though.

He'd have to get a loan to put 'loads' on and it would have to be LOADS to pay the tax bill.

If Sky heard from a reliable source that Manager X was in the running and was considering whether to take the job, they would cut the odds to 1/6 or less straight away without anyone getting a single bet on.

We know Jones was offered the job last week, and also that Pools thought he was going to take it.

Suppose what Hignett has been saying all along is true, he would surely have tipped Jones off to the fact ? And any other prospective manager.

If Collins gets the job then I wish him every success with it, and I actually think he is the sort of bloke who could pull it off. However it would leave Coxhall in a very bad place along with those on social media who have kept defending him. I cant imagine he would risk showing up for the game on Saturday.

There are 2 weeks of the transfer window left if somebody gets appointed tomorrow. That's no time at all for a new bloke to assess the squad, identify targets (loan targets if Hignett is to be believed, which he probably is) and try to get them over the line before the window closes.

On the other hand, if the club has to sell again for financial reasons, Thomas let's say, Coxall would need to be up front about that and make it clear that selling is non-negotiable. That's a good enough reason for any incomer to think twice.

All in all, Collins as caretaker till the end of the season makes sense. At least he already knows the squad and will have ideas on how to shake things up. He wasn't afraid to make changes in his two previous, very short short spells as caretaker.

If only I could get the example of Paul Stephenson out of my head...

Im still confident we can finish the dizzy heights of 22nd.
As for next season it could be a bridge to far with the financial state of the club.

Well the Fail online have a story headlining as would Stevie Gerrard be tempted to be Pools boss. I mean FFS

It's a piece about who Pools fans are talking about and there's a few saying how much they'd like Darryl Clark to do the job.

Actual people think he'd leave League 1 Bristol Rovers to take on our shower. Nowt so queer as folk eh

I opted for Alf Ramsey, it was a close call between him and Darrell Clarke.

Totally agree. If we are planning long term - hopefully with Dave Jones; we have to support him now to get the team he needs to turn this club round. Look at the Phil Brown saga.. didn't back him when wanted his own men and lost out on him. Done pretty well at Southend since...

Jones may have been out of game 3 years but he must be chomping at the bit to get back into it and prove a few people wrong. This is the time for experience, calm and know-how; not for a gamble or inexperience that could see us plunge into non league!

One thing to remember about the betting is that caretakers who take charge for ten games will be deemed permanent in terms of the bookies eyes. So Collins obviously in temp charge, which may have encouraged some money for him.

I don't think GC is in the same league as KH when it comes to the laboriously slow selection of managers. Only once did KH ever get his arse into gear.
A case of corporate procedures versus winging it.

Jones now 1/12 on SkyBet. Even shorter odds than the day Hignett left.

Hopefully an announcement can't be too far away now.

A few names I've seen he worked with were Stuart Gray, Terry Burton and Paul Wilkinson.
