Seen a couple of albums on Amazon Prime, I'd love to hear on vinyl. Will they be packaged to arrive intact? Will they be in good nick? Will they be originals or modern reproductions?

I just got some Sleaford Mods vinyl from Amazon - no problem.

Got some Southside Johnny on vinyl in December and, again, no problem.

I don't mind the old technology, but you cant beat having something in your pocket that stores over 6000 songs on it, especially when I spend about 20 hours a week travelling on trains. I always swore I would never get an Ipod, but you have to move with the times.

I agree Mr C about moving with the times, I listen to music via youtube or now Amazon, so in a way don't have to pay. However this year I think I'm going Retro, found my old stacking system in the Attic (Sony Turntable, Sony" interchangeable" CD Player [modern replacement, a long story], Sony "Double" Cassette, & Technics soundy thing) FTR the Soundy thing was a "Tuner"? and BEFORE remote controls. I remember when I got it, the sound goes from 0 to 10, but to play it I had to set it to below one, ie as near to 0 as possible with the deft touch of a hand! or I would deafen the neighbours!

Anyway back to Vinyl. Years ago my parents sold their house and to keep the chain going we moved in with my Uncle for a few months. Musically my records never reappeared from Storage and the ones I kept to listen too, I accidentally left at my Uncle's, who presumed I didn't want them so gave them away! Don't ask about what went or I'll cry!!!!

31 years ago I left several hundred LPs and nearly a thousand 7" with a mate for safe keeping while I went to Saudi Arabia for 18 months - I stayed 5 years - got married, moved, had kids, got divorced, moved, got married, moved and then - over a few beers in November - my mate mentioned the vinyl in his attic! BOOM! Most of it is in decent nick. And next on the agenda - probably - another divorce! Quote of the year - "You spent seven hours listening to sh*t last night, you daft old git!"

Might be a bit out the way but Sound it Out Records in Stockton is a cracking shop for Vinyl.

Discogs is where you need to be. EBay's OK but if condition matters then there's a lot of shite about. Has anyone been to the new record shop in Murray St yet? All second hand but why, way, WAY overpriced.

Put it this way, if the Cocteau Twins "Heaven Or Las Vegas" is a £65 record, I'm rich...I've got three copies. It's worth £15 max.

Get them appraised Mr Yubep. My mates dad has a huge record collection and my mate "jokes" his mother and sister can have all the money etc as long as he gets the record collection! His Dad agrees BTW.

Me dad has got a BB King vinyl which was going for about £150 few year back. A lot of bands now release a lot of stuff on Vinyl. Went to a live gig/record signing at he Sound it Out records for the band Spector and every person bought a vinyl copy of their album.

There was an article in the Daily Express today about "vinyl nest eggs hiding in the attic". e g God Save The Queen on A&M before the Pistols were ditched. Worth £12K apparently, if you've got a copy !
BHLF - can't have you contemplating divorce from The Confectioner. Would cost me an absolute fortune in"ket" !
Hope she's feeling better by the way.

Yes I noticed how pricey he is. When I mentioned Discogs were much cheaper he gave me some rabbit on how his were better quality than theirs which was absolute bollocks. I asked if he had any Who and he said he had some Kinks records. A bit like going to a corner shop, asking if they have any bog roll and the shopkeeper says no but they have yoghurt.

Decided to bite the bullet though and part with my Xmas money in there last week and noticed he wasn't open.

Can't see him lasting long .

He should write himself a 'back in ten minutes' sign on a paper bag. Kept John in business for years.

It's a shame Trash in the Attic closed.

Could buy a load of records off him cheap. Sadly his heart wasn't in the business after his dad died.

Never bought any vinyl on Ebay but sold plenty, all in great nick and really well packaged, never had any negative feedback. Made a fair bit over the years, biggest moneyspinner is old concert ticket stubs, had the use out of them, basically worthless and cheap to post. Got nearly £80 for two Buzzcocks stubs from 1979, Joy Division were supporting but not mentioned on the ticket. Original badges from the 1970's are brilliant sellers too, £30 for a set of six 1" Stranglers badges.

That one in Murray Street doesn't seem to be open anymore.

A few times I've passed it since Xmas and the shutters are always down.

Yeah, they are only playing at it I'm afraid...

First day it opened I went in, picked up a shedload of 60s 45s for the Jukebox..charged me a Quid each.

Next week I went in, all the 60s 45s are individually priced at ridiculous rates, things like "See My Friends" by The Kinks £40!!! It was a fucking Top Ten hit, sold 750,000 copies man..its a £3 single. And it was trashed...

It'll be gone in a month.
