Don't the league do drug tests anymore?

Yeah, they're done by the same people who do the fit and proper test for owners.

Have to have an aim otherwise it's pointless.

Extremely unlikely as it may be...

He does seem to spout shite when The Mail ask him to but in this case what else could he say? If he said that he was hoping to coast to a mid-table finish with the end of the season likely to be a long, drab, boring trudge nobody would be too happy with him. "The season is effectively fucked already so as long as we stay a few points above bother and cut the wage bill I'll be delighted," wouldn't go down too well either.

It certainly beats Chris Turner in his second spell claiming that finishing 5th bottom would be an achievement given the quality of the clubs we're up against. Especially when the fixture list was populated with clubs like Exeter, Gillingham and Yeovil.

I hate this period when certain people turn against a manager and every single quote gets over scrutinised. Every players interview as well after a defeat then before the next game. They are obligated to speak to the press so many times a week what do you want him/them to say?

"Yeah we are pretty garbage aren't we did you see the clip of us against Cambridge ha ha sweet Jesus how the fuck am I still in work!? Play offs? We'll do well to stop up"

It's a crap League, it only takes momentum and a good run. York were utterly dog shit a few seasons ago under Nigel Worthington and finished 7th. Yes it's unlikely but what it wrong with a positive outlook?

I don't think it's too ridiculous a statement either, we probably are only 3 quality players in key positions from being able to challenge the league is that close. We've matched some of the top sides already in certain games.

Of course recruiting those 2 or 3 key players is the key point and not looking likely.

Agree with PJ that people have certainly turned against the manager it appears even if we probably will finish in mid table mediocrity which most people would have said at the start was progress. I know living away I'm not exposed to all the shite performances week in week out like I used to be and most of you are but maybe that distance helps to be more reasoned in assessment

I think he needs a bit of media training. If he'd said something like

'Well the immediate aim is to build on the last few results and see where we are in a month or so'

there'd have been no hostages to fortune and nothing for people to poke at.
