Why does water out of the tap in the bathroom taste different to the one from the kitchen?

Sort of chalky. It has been like this in every house I lived in.

Doesn't bathroom tap water run from a tank in the roof (older houses) whereas kitchen water runs from the mains?

I think Mr Big Toe is correct. Also kitchen tap is designed for drinking Council Pop, whereas other sinks/taps are designed for hygiene.

Heated water if you have a back boiler stands in a tank to feed the cylinder. Cold water is direct mains water, but even cold bathroom water is usually mains water.

I don't have a loft tank, the bathroom and kitchen taps are both straight off the mains. Must be the tap design then. When we get the bathroom done next I'll have kitchen taps put on.

I'm sure it's just the amount of pipework the water has to go through that changes the flavour to be slightly more metallic.

It's the government, they put something in the mains water to stop us all reaching the grand old age of 150, therefore not being too much of a burden to the state.

Sounds most likely. I'm not gping to buy bottled water though, I've heard that Michael Gove, George Osborne and Boris Johnson all piss in it.

Apparently all 3 of them permanently wear a catheter, so the 'spring water'companies don't miss a drop. Nicola Sturgeon is the driving force behind that distinctive flavour in the Scottish Spring water....... S N Pee.

My missus buys bottled water and it drives me mad. It's like throwing money down the toilet same as buying vitamins or protein shakes.

Hartlepool has the best healthiest water in the country, FACT!

If it doesn't taste nice in your gaff it's the taps or storage tanks in yer house.

Buying bottled water is infact buying an inferior product for more money.

Any chance of getting flavoured water, seperate pipes or a flavour regulator at source, the kids love the apple and raspberry from Morrisons

Hartlepool water is great cold. Try boiling it for tea though and the residue is awful.

It is hard water. The shit in your kettle is what is left if you boil the water off. Tastes good but destroys your element.

Calcium. Soft water is mildly acidic and there is no scale build up. Hard water isn't and hence scale builds up as it boils.
Hartlepool water is gorgeous cold , but so hard it'll offer you out.

I love Hartlepool water like but it's a pain in the arse for the kettle and ironing. Always end up with loads of white specs all over t-shirts etc..

I think it's the length of time the water sits in the pipe work. Obviously the kitchen taps are used more frequently whereas the water goes stale sitting in the rarely used pipe work to the bath. Simple!!!!!

But when the deionised water is used in an iron it surely isn't deironised anymore?
