I, along with at least 6 season ticket holders, were getting merrily pissed at a wedding.

But other than saying the manager had to go, none of the 6 were the slightest bit upset.

Maybe it was the drink. Or was it the fact that everyone seems to think its only a matter of time? confised

I might be misunderstanding the tone here, but people dont seem as angry as they used to be, or get, after an embarrassing defeat.

Even back in the scooty out period, we got very vexed, and someof us were fighting the stewards who tried to eject us.

And we were much further away from the brink then.

We've got used to it, different year, same thing. Doesn't seem to matter who we put in charge, it's the same year on year. What haven't we tried??

We could sack him, spend a chunk of money we haven't got on a severance fee, then employ somebody else, who'll promise the earth, as long as he has free reign to bring in the players he wants. Which he won't be able to do, because we have a large squad so will need to wait until the summer to release some of them. So he'll have to do with one or two loan signings in a hope that they will be inspired additions to pick up rock bottom morale and win enough games to avoid relegation. Then he'll ship 6-8 players out in the summer, sign 6-8 new ones, and next November we'll be talking about firing him because we are in the bottom half of the table and we've just been dumped out of the FA Cup, our last remaining cup competition of the season.

Sigh.

Weve had that many defeats over the last 6 years people have just become amuned to it.
The in thing now is to just leave the ground after half time then have a good winge on here.
Years ago there would of been crowd disorder.
Probably will be when we play Carlisle if we still havent shaped up by then.

I remember another five goal defeat at home - we got beat by Crewe in 1986? The crowd were on the pitch after that game demanding the Manager get the sack - Billy Horner went the next day...

I remember the protest after the game in the Rink End in '89 after Donny thumped us 6 nowt (at least I'm sure it was Donny)

Yes, that will have been during the Bobby Moncur tenure. We lost 6-0 at home to Donny as well as losing 6-0 at home to Cambridge and away at Stockport, lost 7-1 at York and also 6-1 at Aldershot. Barring the occasional upturn in fortunes, things don't change a lot...

Call them defeats? Pools got beat 8-1 at home to Plymouth in 1994.

The good old days....

Let's be honest we've had a few years of busy going nowhere football run by busy going nowhere management, the inspiration the fans need has been absent for a few years now. I' m surprised the gates have held up, but then thank god for season tickets or they wouldn't.
Defeats now don't create anger, just a mute resigned to it acceptance.
A communal 'Ah well'.
