Agreed, the number of people I see on a daily basis using them while driving has only increased over the years.

Who the feck is so important they can't wait 15 mins or whatever to call them back?

Apparently that tram driver that crashed was 'typing text into his phone' at the time of the crash.

The daftest thing is there are already aps that could be forced on smart phones to disable them when they detect driving. Admittedly this may stop passengers using their phones but would save lives.

Using the phones bad enough, but texting while driving infuriates me. What gets me 99.99% of it'll be gossip.

Was driving over the raby road brougham terrace cross road a few weeks ago and was turning right into raby road. Waiting for this car to pass who was crawling over, about 4 cars waiting behind him. He was looking down at the wheel and had his phone in his hand texting away, over a fuckin junction. Couldn't believe it.

Was gunna beep but didn't want to cause an accident.

What's so important that you need to text whilst crossing a junction?

Drove up the A19 near the Tontine and traffic was light and noticed a merc drifting from lane to lane very slowly but as I edged past, this woman had folders open and an I pad on the passenger seat doing paperwork

They can be playing top spot at the London Palladium when they use the phone for all I care. But if they are in conversation with me and their phone rings and they answer, there is no way in hell I'm going to still be around by the time they hang up.

Only when you're being chauffeured around in the trust limo I'm afraid.

Netflix viewing is perfectly safe as long as you're also drinking a large bottle of chocolate Yop! and steering with your knees. If you only watch Netflix you get too involved and drift across lanes.

What pisses me off the most is when you see people with a phone to their ear in cars that have got bluetooth. They are either too stupid or lazy to use it.

Seriously, I tend to listen to Question Time in the car through BBC iPlayer. I do mean listen not watch. I suspect that I would be in serious trouble if caught, I couldn't prove that I wasn't watching.

Do you connect it to the car audio through bluetooth? I'm sure if the device was in a bag or something you'd be OK. If not just pretend you're blind when the po po stop you, you'l be fine.

What happens if a guest, let's say the Honourable Gentleman Ivor Bigg-Tadger, says I'll show you what's what and slapps his knob on the desk? Or a leading Tory lady such as Gladys Flash-Flange says you could have look up her skirt on the red button? You'd be glued to the screen and dead in minutes. Best to stick to music in the car.

But surely in such mitigating circumstances the courts would let you off, unless of course you were actually dead. Which would be unfortunate.
