What are those stripes people paint under their eyes?

See loads of people doing it these days, what it is all about? Usually done by someone cycling, or triathaloning or those mud scramble things.

Something to do with avoiding the reflection from the Sun in your eyes I think. Shivnarine Chanderpaul used wear them when he batted for the West Indies.

Normally when I got the sun in my eyes playing footy or cricket it came from the sky as opposed to it reflecting of my cheeks into my eyes?! How wrong was I finally?

Goalkeepers did it a few years some thing to do with glare from the floodlights.

Its just a fashion statement, like when footballers wore a plaster on their nose, to er.... breath better. Also cycling shorts under shorts and knee supports etc. These days its blue sellotape over muscles!

Some people see it and just have to imitate it, even they if don't know why.
All we need is some sporting icon to take to the field with a frozen turd on their head and the wannabes will follow.

Ha! Have wondered about the tape thing as well. Loads of people at the gym have them, I assumed it was something you put on new tattoos.

Kinesio tape. It's actually really good if you've got any muscle/joint issues. I do agree though it appears to be worn as a fashion accessory.

People seem to have it where there aren't any joints, which is why I thought it was a tattoo plaster.

I might start a trend off, get a big laggy band and put it over my head so it stretches my nose up like Edward and Tubbs off League of Gentlemen. Tell people it's good for improving nasal air flow or something.
