Upon setting foot in Victoria Park this afternoon for Pools vs Orient, I felt a good feeling of optimism for the outcome of today's match. The sun was out, the blue and white was out and shining in the Town End, the Mill House and the Cyril Knowles. Credit to the Orient fans for turning up in good numbers from London and making a good atmosphere at the Vic. There's no place like Victoria Park if you're a poolie, it makes the world seem right and life feel steady under your feet.

The result today probably reflected the performance from Pools, which was below par really. Leyton Orient seemed to want the result more and they were smarter on the ball in my opinion. Pools made some impressive moves but they seemed to get the easy things wrong like simple passes down the wing when men were open and free for the pass. Confidence seems to be at a low too from the league position most likely and as we know as poolies, confidence breeds confidence such as during the time of Gordon Watson, Micky Barron and the promotion teams who had the desire.

At the end of the day, Poolies want their team to turn up and put in the work for their team. When we don't see that effort and commitment, we are uninspired as fans.

From start to finish today, Pools showed signs of quality and I think this is from Hignett who is an experienced and knowledgable manager. However, he needs to put the boot up some of his players and pick the leaders who should push the team forward and fight to the death.

Hartlepool United has shown over the years that it can compete, it can achieve and it can win over it's fans if the work is put in and we see fight, courage and commitment. Sort it out lads! Blue Army!

Experienced and knowledgeable manager?

Isn't this his first managers job?

Reads like a smuggled out letter written by a committee of aged poolies in a maximum security twilight home.

The only atmosphere was created by the few e-cigs on the mill house terrace, quietest fans this season ,only woke up when they scored FFS!
