The "why do we seem to have the same accent despite being on the opposite side of the country" derby?

Seriously, we sound more like them than people from Blackhall.

Plymouth v Pompey and Carlisle v Pools could both be dubbed "The Not A Derby Derby" or "What The Media Thinks Is A Derby Derby". Rolls off the tongue.

Keith Curle even described us as their "near neighbours". Never mind the tautology, I didn't know you could describe a town 90 miles away as "neighbours"!

If you're in Australia I think 90 miles is about the average distance between neighbours. Don't believe the TV show, its a lie.

It's weird isn't it? Used to work with a lad from Carlisle and before I knew where he was from assumed he was from Stockton or somewhere. And they say things like gadgie and radged.

I think so, it was a while ago I worked with him, but I remember not having to check what I was saying to make sure he understood it. A lass from Durham was there at the same time as well, it was quite refreshing.

I remember assuming before that a trip to Plymouth from Portsmouth would be about an hours leisurely drive along the coast, I think it's actually about 180 miles!!

If we dont shape up then we are likely to have derbies with Gateshead n Darlo next season and one division above Whitby.

But forget about that statement just remembered Bates n Jones are on there way back! rolf

Has anyone seen darlos new ground. No way on earth would the police allow us to play them there. We would probobly receive 250 tickets. It would be known as the bus shelter derby.

Yes its basic, capacity of 3000, but its paid for and another hurdle overcome on our way up the leagues.
Think you would get a maximum of 500 tickets if we ever played each other.

I had expected them to have levelled off by now, but they may well be in the Conference this time next year.

I'd like to think that if the worst happened to Pools we would rally round and achieve what Darlo fans have.

I don't think they'd be allowed to be promoted this year as the new ground won't good enough for the next level. Could be wrong but I read they are doing work trying to get it graded for the level they are at now.

We would have until March 2018 (if promoted) to get another couple of hundred seats in, plus whatever else is the minimum to get in the Conference National.
As it stands, when finished, the new ground is sufficient for Conference North.
Another year at this level won't be a bad thing though.

Its been a good few years thats for sure.
Despite what PJ might think, we have lads who play for the shirt and don't have pound signs in their eyes first. If they wanted big money then they could always go to Spennymoor or South Shields. I know for a fact what that the likes of Chandler and Craddock went to Spenny because of what money was on offer.

By the way, Nelson Addy played against us yesterday. Scored a goal but I expected more from him, was anonymous for most of the game.

'Despite PJ might think' eh!? What might I think? I know very little about your team or the level you play at. Who's Craddock!?

Tom Craddock who missed a penalty for you lot a few years ago.
You do go on about players only being interested in pound signs even at our level PJ, despite the fact that all of our players had the option of signing for Spennymoor instead of us, even though they do pay more. The two examples I mentioned are on around £200 a week more than Phil Turnbull who is probably the best midfielder outside of the conference national. Even when we were in the Northern League we had Spenny, Shildon, West Auckland and Celtic Nation all paying stupid money for that level, yet we still got a team together on lower wages and pissed the league.

Tom Craddock - Poolie Legend.

A signed shirt of his went up for auction last year on here, think Yubep won it the lucky bastard.

He plays in the Northern League!?

I had wrongly assumed he was banging them in out in Seria A or La Liga?

The plans to rename Clarence Road Sir Tom Craddock way now seem a little over the top.

I think what I actually said Loan Star is that I don't believe in this romantic cliche that all players at Darlos level play purely for the Love of the game. They don't love the game more or less than lads playing in League Two as pretty much all of them have aspired or still do to play at this level and would take up an opportunity to do so again at the drop of a hat.

I think that's the point I was making a while back I have no idea what Darlo or anyone else pay, but I'd guess they are paying out some decent money by Non League standards.

Its the Shields derby saturday.
South v North
2nd v 1st
South Shields been averaging crowds of 1100 so should be a full house and a decent game.
Hope the idiots from Sunderland and Newcastle dont turn up to spoil it like.

That would be North Mr Yubep. However South has about 1 million Curry Houses in 1 street.
