The compensation cheque will be huge. I wonder if Ennis Hill and the rest of the lynch mob will issue an apology.

He has been found not gulity.

Hardly makes him innocent. What he did was appalling.

Anyone that wants that sort of human being at your football club is equally appalling.

Doesn't change my opinion on the incident just the blurred lines of what constitutes rape or not from a legal perspective. Even if it wasn't rape I wouldn't find it tasteful to to cheer on as a hero someone who went to jointly shag some pissed lass with his mate. But hey I'm probably just a soft liberal do gooder

Just a cheap shot that you're basing your argument on the limited facts you know. The retrial found him not guilty due to new evidence, which I'm assuming only people at the trial would have seen.

He's cheated on his fiance with a drunk lass, who's now been proven to have cried wolf. Appalling? Really? I'd reserve that term for someone who ruined another human beings career, reputation and a fair chunk of their life personally.

It hardly makes any of the clubs who wouldn't sign him and those like Jessica Ennis wrong, at the time he was a convicted rapist.

Whether it's rape or not the whole saga should be used as an example to young footballers on how not to behave and how being wealthy and desirable (in your own head anyway, Evans himself in the retrial said he could have slept with 'anyone he wanted' that night, what an absolute cock socket) to the opposite does not make you untouchable.

Refreshing

They all start 'Ched Evans' as well.

I always thought Ched Evens was a better player anyway.

The thread doesn't need to be a long one as I don't see what has changed in terms of clubs not signing him, it was for a very valid reason.

Lost 4 years of his life and career for a woman that has cried rape twice and twice been found out eventually. Maybe those castegating at the time in public positions should of realised at the time how dodgy the case looked before they opened their big mouths. Whats their opinions now i wonder.

It won't, a legal expert was on the radio. He has no grounds to seek compensation, Evans in his statement apologised for his behaviour so he also said it appears he has no intention of seeking any either.

I would now expect all the self righteous people who came out so eagerlyl to criticise him to offer some sort of apology. It won't happen of course.
He has spent years in prison for something it has now been PROVED that he did not do. He has also lost a fortune in wages and the best years of a promising professional career.
I wouldn,t in any way condone what he has done, it was disgraceful and sording and how his girlfriend has stoo by him I don't know. But it was NOT illegal

We need more role models in the game, too much money + too much free time + no common sense = Footballers today, they need to look at people like Ryan Giggs as an example.

It hasn't been "proved" that he didn't do anything, that's not how the criminal justice system works. It means the jury were unable to say beyond reasonable doubt that he did do it, quite an important distinction. Even if the jury thought he probably had raped her they couldn't convict on that basis.

The courts found OJ Simpson not guilty, just saying like

Chedley seems like an awful example regardless of the outcome of this case. I think the woman who said it's set the world back thirty years for this kind of case

He didn't say they did. He said 'even if' can you not read?

I don't know what is that hard to understand, for a guilty verdict to be reached you have to prove and have evidence beyond reasonable doubt that the person committed that crime. Rape cases are very often one persons word against another with the only available evidence being the proof they actually had sex. So convictions are notoriously difficult and it's why a lot of rapes even go unreported.

The conviction probably was unsafe, he probably shouldn't have gone to prison but that doesn't make him a decent bloke or innocent in my eyes, nobody really comes out of the case well, especially the arrogant prick that is Ched Evans.

And it's perfectly ok for you to make a judgement on the testament of two bribed witnesses. Their statements should've been thrown out of court.
