Excellent, thanks Elvis. Your track record for remembering obscure shite about Pools and records leaves me pretty confident that you're right. You don't which chippy he likes best do you?

Wasn't it Gordon Watson who said 'This bus driver commentates himself?' Prophetic words.

Clearly a man of impeccable taste - driver, commentator and connoisseur. Unless the Elcho has gone downhill since I last called in there in 1983.

Is that model shop still next to it on the corner? Seem to remember spending many hours looking at the toy trains/scaletrix cars in its window eating me chippy.

Don't know but I remember the shop you mean. Last time I was there I asked the owner how business was going and he said he hardly sold anything because some little bastad kept smearing chip grease all over his windows.

Spent a long time sampling chip shops in Leeds, Newcastle, Hexham and Haydon Bridge before moving on to the duck fat variety. Must have dented their profits a bit when I moved though.
